Job Description

Clean Harbors located in Bartow, FL is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to add to the team. The Facility Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repairs on equipment throughout the facility. We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and self-directed Facility Maintenance Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of our industrial treatment, storage, and disposal facility. The ideal candidate will have strong industrial maintenance experience with hands-on knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping systems, pumps, tanks, heavy equipment, and process machinery. This role is responsible for maintaining critical facility infrastructure, including a tank farm, drum shredding equipment, processing systems, and other industrial assets.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can identify maintenance needs, troubleshoot issues, prioritize work, and complete tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance.

Shift: 1st 6am-230pm (Mon-Fri)

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment and infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on industrial machinery, pumps, motors, conveyors, shredders, compressors, and associated equipment.
  • Maintain and repair piping systems, valves, fittings, flanges, pumps, and transfer systems.
  • Support operations and maintenance activities within the facility tank farm, including tank-related equipment, transfer lines, and containment systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair drum shredder systems and associated mechanical components.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems to identify wear, leaks, deficiencies, or potential failures.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, forklifts, skid steers, and other industrial mobile equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects, equipment installations, and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders.
  • Coordinate with operations personnel to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to facility operations.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout maintenance areas and equipment locations.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations as required.
  • Support regulatory inspections and audits related to maintenance activities.

What Does it Take to Work for Clean Harbors?

  • 1+years millwright type experience preferred
  • 1+year maintenance experience preferred or two years education
  • Plant maintenance experience in one of the following areas: preventative maintenance, installations, welding, electrical, pipefitting
  • Demonstrated education or welding experience
  • Hydraulics systems experience
  • Pumps experience, and centrifugal and diaphragm pumps an asset!
  • Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including movements such as lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, and the manipulating and handling of objects
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs
  • Clean and valid driver’s license
