The Facility Maintenance Manager A will be responsible for leading the statewide engineering and maintenance operations for Louisiana Works. This position exercises independent judgment in planning, coordinating, and managing the activities of the Engineering and Maintenance Division to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of agency facilities and infrastructure. The incumbent establishes priorities, allocates resources, oversees maintenance and renovation projects, and ensures compliance with applicable building, safety, and regulatory standards while supporting the agency's operational needs across the state.

The Office of Management and Finance (OMF) oversees the agency’s fiscal operations, budgeting, procurement and contracts, human resources, and other key administrative functions. We provide the internal support and oversight needed to ensure efficient, accountable, and transparent agency operations. OMF does not deliver direct services to the public.

Examples of duties

Five years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus three years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR

Eighteen semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance.

Supplemental information

  • Oversees maintenance, renovations, and preventive maintenance for Louisiana Works facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, painting, telecommunications, computer cabling, and specialized equipment.
  • Directs maintenance supervisors and staff to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of agency facilities and equipment.
  • Manages division personnel activities, including recruitment, performance management, maintaining SF-3 Position Descriptions, and recommending hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversees the maintenance work order system by prioritizing requests, assigning projects, monitoring progress, and providing status updates to agency leadership.
  • Reviews and approves purchasing and requisition requests, manages maintenance inventory, and ensures accurate maintenance records are maintained.
  • Directs and performs electrical installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
