Job Description

General Purpose:

Maintain plant’s exterior by manicuring lawns, trimming bushes, and keeping pathways clear of overgrowth and debris to create a safe working/walking environment and a neat orderly appearance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain lawns and shrubs around property to achieve a neat and orderly appearance
  • Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions
  • Maintain shrubs and lawns, including planting, weeding, soil conditioning, and mulching
  • Operate and maintain garden and landscaping equipment to mow, trim, and/or remove grass, brush and other unwanted vegetation
  • Schedule specialty services such as ground leveling or tree removal
  • Conduct repairs to the facility at an apprentice level. Repairs may include, door repairs, painting, assisting with filter changes on air conditioning systems, plumbing repairs, and basic construction
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and repairs to plant lighting
  • Operation of forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts will be necessary. Plant certification must be obtained within 6 months
  • Be an active member of the plant’s Safety Council and perform safety audits
  • Follow all Dairy Farmers of America GMP’s and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory quality, sanitation, and safety requirements
  • Follow all safety regulations. Qualify to perform LOTO and confined space

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of experience in similar field preferred
  • Certification and/or License – Texas State Licensed Certified Applicator is preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Able to follow directions and carry out instructions
  • Able to perform task and duties without constant supervision
  • Able to interact positively and work effectively others (interpersonal skills)
  • Able to maintain a positive “can do” outlook
  • Able to provide excellent customer service
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • Must be able to work in all climates native to the region
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs, stand on feet for 3 hours, must be able to twist, turn and bend. Some noise exposure
