Summary/Objective:
We are looking for an experienced, licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and installation. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and repairing wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components in a multi-campus education facility. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or within a team environment. Must be able to interact with the staff, students/families and community while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
· Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment for HVAC units including exhaust fans, fuses, motors, and breakers.
· Inspect and test electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
· Troubleshoot electrical systems to identify problems and make repairs as needed.
· Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and make recommendations for repairs or improvements to the Facility Management team.
· Working knowledge of conduit bend and wire pulls. Install conduit for wiring.
· Familiarity with National Electric Codes, electrical theory.
· Familiarity with high voltage three phase circuits, transformers and switch gear.
· Working Knowledge of Power Inverter Systems is a plus
· Ability to use various testing devices related to electrical and mechanical trades.
· Comprehensive knowledge and experience of OSHA job safety Requirements. Must maintain current OSHA certification for electricians.
· Report all safety concerns and observations to Facility Management team
· Possess a basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite software and ability to use or learn to use Building Automation Systems, Work order management systems, and general office equipment.
· Assist Facilities Team with daily event setups, general maintenance requests, and internal mail deliveries.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· Maintain a clean and presentable appearance
Qualifications/Skills:
· High school diploma or GED
· Some relevant experience in residential, commercial or construction related fields (commercial electrical experience is strongly preferred)
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions
· Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner
· Ability to acquire job skills with three months of on-the-job training
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
· Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing between 20 to 50 pounds; may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials weighing up to 100 pounds
· Occasional work from ladders or mechanical lifting equipment at heights over 20 feet.
· Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dust, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease and pathogenic substances
· Use of power tools and equipment on a regular basis should be expected. Their safe operation is critical to workplace safety.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, salaried, non-exempt position with full time level of benefits including paid employee insurance, tuition discount and retirement plans. Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday between 8 – 10-hour days, Some weekends or evening hours necessary during the Fall home football games and in emergency situations.
Travel
Travel between campus’s required in personal vehicle. Ability to obtain clearance to drive company owned vehicles with a clean driving record.
