An FMCS Engineer at STMicroelectronics supports the Facility Monitoring and Control Systems that help ensure the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of critical site infrastructure in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Role Purpose

The FMCS Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of building and utility control systems that support factory and facility operations. This includes HVAC, chilled water, compressed air, electrical monitoring, water systems, gas systems, alarms, and other critical utilities.

Responsibility- What You Will Be Doing

  • Monitor and control HVAC, CDA, Power, fire alarm interfaces, Water systems, PCW and other building/process utilities through the FMCS platform.
  • Design and configure control strategies, sequences of operation, graphics, alarms, trends, gap analysis and improvements / catch up with gap, SPC integration and reports.
  • Perform system troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and field device issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and facility teams during installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Maintain system documentation, including control drawings, SPC set point lists, I/O schedules, network diagrams, and as-built records, PLC Backup programs.
  • Support preventive maintenance and optimize system performance to improve energy efficiency and uptime.
  • Integrate third-party systems such as 132kV controls, pumps, sensors, and meters into the FMCS.
  • Commission and validate control systems during new installations and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with POR(Point of Record) and applicable codes, standards, and site procedures.
  • Train operators and maintenance staff on system use, alarms, and basic troubleshooting.

Requirement- What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Min 5 years of experience in FMCS or facility engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of FMCS systems, PLC Siemens S7 and facility operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for reporting, budgeting, RCA, 8D methodology & problem solving, and project tracking.
  • Strong English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multinational environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and ready to take initiative in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable standards
  • Support safe work practices, risk control, and equipment reliability always

Key Competencies

  • Strong understanding of facility automation / building management systems
  • Knowledge of HVAC, utilities, and industrial facility systems
  • Familiarity with protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC, Lon Works
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, loop diagrams, SPC setting and control schematics
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA, or BMS/FMCS platforms
  • Good troubleshooting, communication, and coordination skills
  • Ability to work in a high-availability (24/7), mission-critical environment
