Reporting to the Senior Arts Consultant, the Facility Attendant 3 provides facility support and customer service within Arts Services at the City of Toronto, including at the Clark Centre for the Arts. The Clark Centre for the Arts is a cultural facility featuring art studios and gallery spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy year-round. The Centre offers rental opportunities and delivers approximately 85 accessible arts programs each year, including courses, workshops, and talks.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Fields rental inquiries and shows the building to prospective clients, including giving tours of the facility.
  • Assists with and oversees functions and special events.
  • Ensures that any needs of clients and teachers are met, i.e., providing general information to clients, ensuring classrooms are properly set up.
  • Registers clients into programs and workshops utilizing Active Net software.
  • Locks up and ensures security of building/site.
  • Performs general office duties including answering the telephone, maintaining daily records and logs, and operating POS and cash handling end-of-shift cashier closing procedures.
  • Performs general customer service duties including responding to inquiries, complaints, and concerns from participants and parents when necessary.
  • Attends staff training, workshops, and meetings, and performs administrative tasks as assigned.

Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function (i.e. Arts Administration or other relevant field), or an approved combination of education and experience.
  2. Experience providing customer service in arts and culture, tourism, hospitality, entertainment, or events, including working independently with minimal supervision.
  3. Experience working in a cashiering environment, including operating a Point of Sale (POS) system and handling cash transactions.

You must also have:

  • Ability to work in person at the base location (this is not a remote/hybrid role)
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the execution of events and programs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to obtain a Smart Serve Certification
  • Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 10 kilos
  • Interest in community arts and working in a cultural facility
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated sound judgement
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to be reliable, responsible, and work independently
  • Ability to be flexible and punctual
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and learn new software/applications
