Job Description

Maintenance position responsible for providing assistance to the Maintenance Department in the repair and servicing of the production equipment and Facilities, along with supporting Safety and Compliance tasks. Gains thorough understanding of the production equipment, manufacturing process, and operation.

Shifts:

8:00AM - 4:00PM Monday-Friday

7:00AM - 5:00PM Sunday-Wednesday

Must be able to work Bloomfield, NY.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Troubleshoots and makes minor repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic controls.

2. Understands blueprints.

3. Uses all hand equipment and power tools.

4. Assists in preventative maintenance programs and assigned facility Safety and Conformance tasks. Which may include any of the following items:

  • Clean Floors, Walls, and railings throughout the facility.
  • Change / Inspect filtration filters in production areas and roll storage.
  • Clean fans monthly that are used on production floor.
  • Maintain grounds with daily garbage disposal and clean ups of break area disposals.
  • Cleaning and Clearing of walkways during summer and winter.
  • Maintain Fork lift batteries and check grounding weekly per lift truck.
  • Load trucks and other various requests with transport when needed. (skids)
  • Maintain Floors from holes and large cracks that pose safety hazards.
  • Maintain Ballard posts that are hit or damaged by lift trucks.
  • Maintain floor cleaning equipment
  • Maintain bathrooms, including sinks and toilets.
  • Clean all windows quarterly or weather permitting.
  • Clean and maintain crocks for drainage.
  • Inspect ladders and aerial lift PPE monthly.
  • If needed grinder plug clean out may be required.
  • Clean maintain wash sinks and utility sinks.
  • Perform weekly riser inspections per FM Global.
  • Replace batteries in Exit and Emergency lights when assigned.
  • Be able to use asset essentials software to record all work completed.
  • Assist with contractors when needed to be sure safety and policy are followed.
  • Assist with maintenance for odds and ends jobs when needed.
  • Clean and inspect all critical equipment weekly and report/record readings daily.
  • Clean lighting quarterly. Replace lighting as needed. Inspect daily.
  • Clean and maintain loading dock areas.
  • Address leaks for temporary fixes.
  • Emergency exit alarm testing.
  • Safety program training
  • Task for Safety and Compliance programs for EPA and NYSDEC.

5. Performs scheduled lubrication of production machinery.

6. Follows and participates in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.

7. Remains compliant with BRC / HACCP requirements as per this location’s written “Food Safety & Quality Policy”

8. Will require overtime as needed to support business goals; occasional on-call weekends/night to support production.

9. Mandatory off-site training may be required depending on individuals’ skill set.

10. Willing and able to use software driven maintenance programs for assignments and scheduling.

11. Have good basic understanding of electrical / mechanical trouble shooting.

12. Can learn new tasks quickly and accomplishes tasks professionally and safely.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

6 months to a year of related experience and/or training.

Experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing and pneumatics strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to print simple sentences and legibly complete reports and time cards. Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, electronic or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

OSHA 10 or equivalent certification

Scissor/Platform lift certification/training

LOTO Training.
