Our Facilities Technician II helps keep the Town of Erie’s buildings in top shape, from routine upkeep to essential repairs, ensuring our facilities remain welcoming and dependable for everyone who uses them.
This role is under general supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repairs, preventative maintenance and adjustments, and basic construction trades work to ensure that facilities are properly maintained to meet the Town’s standards. You also may have the opportunity to guide less-skilled staff in completing shared work assignments and assists highly skilled staff in the completion of more complex assignments.
Duties will fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, mechanical, fire and life safety, solar thermal PV systems, HVAC, and lock repair and more. Must be able to work on-call schedule as assigned and understand the On-Call policy.

Anticipated Work Schedule:
- Regular departmental work hours are 7:00a.m.-3:30p.m. Monday – Friday
- Must be able to work on-call schedule as assigned and understand the On-Call policy.
- - Each technician typically works one on call shift a month, though this can vary. On-call shifts are one weeklong, beginning on Monday morning at 7:00 a.m. and ending the following Monday morning at 7:00 a.m.

Salary Range: $26.75/hour - $35.04/hour
- Anticipated Hiring Range: $26.75/hour - $30.89/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives instruction from the Facilities Manager and Supervisor for any facility related issues.
- Performs repairs and preventative maintenance for building equipment including but not limited to the following: building automation systems (BAS), mechanical systems that incorporate solar thermal photovoltaic systems, HVAC units, pumps for pool/domestic water/solar, boilers, elevators, emergency generators and fire alarm controls. Assists with the coordination of repairs and preventative maintenance of building equipment with vendors/contractors when necessary. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance of facility systems and structures including but not limited to the following: minor plumbing repairs, door hardware, fire protection and life safety systems, finish and hardware systems, lightbulb and tube changes. Troubleshoots and completes regular inspections of building systems, including roofing systems.
Administrative and Customer Service
- Promptly responds to customer inquiries and concerns and provides ongoing status updates during and after work is complete.
- Maintains electronic records related to preventative maintenance, repairs, and generates new work orders based on personal observations and communications from building staff.
Safety
- Performs a variety of duties that requires thorough understanding of the use and wear of the different forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assists in the cleaning and organization of shop area. Keeps tools clean and in a safe working condition.
- Knowledge and understanding of all safety procedures of the Town and Facilities department.
- Operates a Town vehicle and is responsible for its safe operation, cleaning, and reporting any observed maintenance needs.

QualificationsMinimum
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Four (4) years of facility maintenance experience or a combination of construction and maintenance working experience.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
- Must have NFPA 70E training within 6 months from date of hire.
- Must have a valid CPR certificate within 6 months from date of hire
Job Expectations
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely to various Town facilities and at times other locations to perform the duties of the position. A motor vehicle record will be pulled through the background check.
