The Position: We are looking for a Facilities Technician I, who is willing to embrace McKinley’s mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The Facilities Technician I is responsible for performing routine and minor preventative maintenance and repair procedures on the main campus and remote facilities. Performs a variety of duties in one or more of the building trades, such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical, or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing buildings and grounds. Is responsible for the general appearance of the campus and surrounding areas.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $21.00-$24.00 hourly depending (Based) on experience.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum of one year working in multi-department environment
  • Minimum of one year experience in construction or facilities maintenance field.
  • Specific trade school experience certificates or licenses in related field is a plus
  • Basic knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
  • Familiar with general maintenance equipment such as blowers and other power tools to perform maintenance/cleaning duties.
  • Ability to understand and manage work orders in a CMMS environment and email communications.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to climb ladders (step ladders as well as extension ladders) to reach heights of up to 20 feet.
  • Walking, Kneeling, and Crawling will be required at times.
  • Must be familiar with power tools and industrial lifting equipment. Operator’s license is a plus.
  • Must be able to use a computer to complete work orders and send emails.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor repair work around the building, e.g. changing light fixtures, repairing doors, and installing window blinds
  • Perform rough carpentry work, painting, installing locks, repair broken glass, repair plaster and provide minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Move furniture and equipment upon instruction.
  • Perform routine, repetitive daily inspection and maintenance necessary to building exterior/interior.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all roofs including removing debris and clearing drains.
  • Perform routine maintenance of HVAC systems; change filters and clean air grills
  • Assists and performs functions in the construction, installation and maintenance of furniture, fences, cabinets, shelving, marker boards/chalkboards, tack boards and a variety of other structures and items.
  • Maintain work order records and materials and tools.
  • Install and repair electrical wiring and replace bulbs and light fixtures.
  • Maintain outside landscaping and sprinkler systems.
  • Perform basic Janitorial duties and maintain the cleanliness of the facility as needed.
  • Complete accurate work order records and assist with the inventory of department materials.
  • As directed, provide rodent control abatement such as traps and bait.
  • Diagnose basic mechanical and equipment failures and make recommendations for repair.
  • Remove signs of graffiti from walls and windows
  • Advise/assist Facilities Manager with recommended repairs/replacements
  • Assist with duties normally assigned to the Utility Worker 1 position when needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
