Job Description

The Facilities Technician will support the Facilities Manager in caring for all North Carolina-based properties, equipment, and supplies to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and working order of multiple buildings and grounds. This role may engage in active troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems (if qualified), plumbing, electrical, carpentry and paint. Additionally, this role may be called on to step into a lead role when the Facilities Manager is unavailable.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties related to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks.
  • Repairs building, walls, showers, sinks, appliances, emergency equipment, locks, doors, cabinets, desks, closets, windows, door hinges, and other related items.
  • Assists with moving furniture and equipment.
  • Assists with cubicle partition assembly and breakdown.
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly work space.
  • Safely operates hand tools.
  • Monitor Lock out/tag out equipment keys and provides support to Distribution Center leaders on equipment maintenance, operation and storage.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct supervisory responsibility but may be asked to lead in the Manager’s absence.
  • Assist with training of new Facilities personnel.

Performs any other functions and duties assigned and necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Market America.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of building maintenance experience
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience working in construction, painting or other related field
  • Demonstrated experience as a lead technician or foreman preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in HVAC preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and paint

Computer/Communication Skills:

  • Moderate levels of English and reading comprehension, writing, and speaking; active listening; maintenance and repairing; and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate experience in working with common communication tools like cell phone, land line phones, direct connect devices, email and written communication.

Travel:

  • Work related travel to Company held properties.
  • Annual conference participation and related travel

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Intermittently lift, carry, pull, and push up to 50 pounds; occasionally, up to 25 pounds; continuously, up to 10 pounds.
  • Continuously see; balance; grasp; stand; walk on variety of surfaces; and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Frequently hear, talk, reach above shoulders, stoop, bend, twist, and crouch.
  • Occasionally kneel, squeeze, climb stairs and ladders, sit and operate foot and hand controls and power tools.
  • Intermittently crawl.
  • Exposure to chemicals, dust, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, high places, extreme outdoor temperatures, and pets.
  • Occasional long or odd hours.
