Job Description

The Facilities Technician is responsible for the daily care and safety of the facility which they are assigned. They will assure that all building systems are maintained and in good working condition, Cleanliness of the facility, the safety of the facility, contractor coordination (elevator, Fire alarm/protection, Security system, snow removal, landscaping, HVAC, Electrical, Etc.), lead construction projects, recommend to the Facility Director Building and system improvements. The Facilities Technician will coordinate office/space changes; work with the local fire/police departments, and order supplies as needed to support their facility and any other needs that there facility require. They will be expected to support event set-up/breakdown and other safety support responsibilities on nights and weekends, as needed.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor vendor performance to assure full compliance with standards established within the service agreement, based on scope of work
  • Supervise maintenance contracts and programs relating to the conditions and appearance of the properties, based on scope of work
  • Record and maintain work ticketing system in order to provide accurate and current assessment of facility management objectives
  • Provide positive and prompt response to requests from management and employees
  • Assist with coordination of transportation of medical equipment and supplies between sites
  • Support and Facilitate maintenance and/or repair work, as needed
  • Adherence to Infection Control Guidelines set forth by CHC
  • Adherence to testing, schedules and maintenance intervals in accordance with joint commission and local, city and state regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that all of our facilities comply with Joint Commission (JCAHO) rules and regulations
  • Strictly follow CHC’s exposure control plan which outlines the protective measures CHC takes to eliminate or minimize employee exposure to blood and potentially infectious materials
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions
  • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers
  • Perform routine rounds throughout facility to ensure compliance of local and state regulatory agencies
  • Monitor and document utility usage at assigned site
  • Support grounds keeping services, such as landscaping or snow removal
  • Maintain and perform minor cosmetic repairs to maintain appearances and prolong life of facility fixtures and millwork which may include: Painting windows, doors and floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree or Trade License required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in building maintenance
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with power tools and measurement instruments in the performance of various electrical & mechanical repairs, troubleshooting & fabrication tasks
  • Working knowledge of at least two of the following trades
  • carpentry, masonry, plumbing, heating, electrical, HVAC and plumbing and ground care
  • Must be capable of working in a team environment consisting of employees and outside contractors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • 40 hour/week. Availability for irregular work schedules for weekend events, required.
  • Physical labor required, equivalent to construction labor, ability to lift 80 lbs., climb ladders, should have no restrictions.
  • Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required.
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments, and shop environments.
  • Potentially exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise and Biohazard (bodily fluids).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • This position may interface with patients, family members, vendors and leadership within the organization.

  • Personal Health information is kept in strict confidence. Confidentiality of patient and business information is a requirement. Full access to patient medical records and encounter data. Confidentiality must be maintained according to CHC policies.
