As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Facility Supervisor in Waterloo !

The Facilities Supervisor leads day-to-day operation, maintenance, and contractor coordination for Teledyne DALSA’s Waterloo manufacturing and engineering site. The role owns building access administration, vendor and contractor management, site compliance (CG, WSIB, contractor insurance, safety), cleaning supervision, and hands-on response for minor repairs and tenant requests. The Facilities Supervisor partners with the Facilities Project Manager to deliver capital projects and keep the site safe, compliant, and available to Engineering and Manufacturing.

What You Will Do

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, process water, pneumatics, HEPA units, humidification, fork and lift-truck assets, dock equipment, lighting, and building envelope.

  • Respond to and triage daily service requests from site staff; assign to internal resources or external trades.

  • Perform non-certified handyman tasks: minor repairs, mounting, patching, fixture replacement, and furniture moves. Along with short term response for outdoor activities like snow shoveling between contracted operations.

  • Tune environmental setpoints (temperature, humidity, lux levels) for manufacturing and lab spaces.

Contractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Source, schedule, and supervise external trades (HVAC, electrical, painters, dock/door, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, etc.).

  • Issue scopes of work, assist in review of quotes, and validate completion before invoice approval.

  • Maintain vendor master list, service agreements, PM, and renewal calendar.

Compliance & Safety

  • Verify WSIB clearances and contractor insurance certificates before any site work begins.

  • Maintain contractor sign-in, site orientation, and PPE compliance.

  • Support EHS in site inspections, incident response, and corrective actions.

  • Administer the CCure building access system: provisioning, de-provisioning, audits, and reporting.

Supervision

  • Direct the on-site cleaning team: schedules, quality audits, supply ordering, and escalations.

  • Coordinate outsourced trades acting as an extended workforce on site.

  • Provide first-line direction, feedback, and performance input to direct reports.

  • Escalate issues to Facilities Project Manager/Facilities Manager as needed.

Project Support

  • Support the Facilities Project Manager on capital and tenant projects (HVAC build-outs, cafeteria refresh, dock equipment, lighting upgrades).

  • Coordinate site logistics, contractor access, and minor commissioning activities.

  • Maintain facilities documentation: drawings, equipment lists, manuals, and warranty records.

Administration

  • Manage facilities-related purchasing, POs, and invoice approvals within delegated authority.

  • Coordinate fleet/vehicle bookings and tools/equipment usage by other groups.

  • Maintain records for audits and management reporting.

What You Need

  • Five or more years in a facilities, maintenance, or building operations role, with at least two years supervising staff and/or contractors.

  • Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, security, and access control.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple trades and managing contractor compliance (WSIB, insurance, safety).

  • Strong hands-on aptitude for minor repairs and general handyman work.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) and computerized maintenance / access control systems.

  • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to respond to after-hours building issues on call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or trade certification (Building Environmental Systems, Facility Management, skilled trade, or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing or cleanroom environment.

  • Familiarity with CCure (or comparable access control), BAS/BMS systems, and CMMS tools.

  • Project coordination experience on capital or tenant fit-out projects.

  • IFMA FMP or BOMI designation is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • On-site role at the Waterloo facility, five days per week, plus on-call.

  • Work environment includes office, plant floor, mechanical rooms, outdoors, and rooftop areas.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 kg; ladder and lift work as required.

  • On-call rotation for building emergencies outside business hours.

Salary Range:

$68,600.00-$91,400.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
