DEPARTMENT Facilities

REPORTS TO: Business Administrator

SUPERVISES: Facilities Staff

STATUS: Exempt

SCHEDULE: Full-Time

FUNCTION: Work in a very physical environment. Works with a variety of tasks and tools. This person will function in a team environment. They will oversee a department that assists all other departments making sure the facilities function in the best possible way, for the programs and patrons. Be a role model to youth. Through their actions, words, and work ethic they will promote the Christian faith and values in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Manager of Events/Food Service on the set up and tear down for all events, programs, and rentals that occur on campus or off
  • Maintain general appearance of outside grounds in conjunction with outside vendors
  • Maintain general appearance inside of facilities in conjunction with outside janitorial company
  • Engage in light maintenance of property in conjunction with property management company
  • Responsible for 2 residential quarters – all aspects except for general cleaning, etc. that will be handled by the Officers who currently live in each residence
  • Keep walkways safe in wintertime, work in conjunction with management company
  • Actively engage in the variety of major events that occur throughout the year. This could include but not limited to Easter weekend activities, plays and productions, summer camp, Celebrate Christmas, Kettles, Christmas food distribution, etc.
  • Will need to work some weekends and evenings as specific events or problems dictate
  • Available 24/7 to handle unexpected needs of the Kroc Center Administrator as it relates to facilities, quarters, events, programs, etc.
  • Oversee the delivery of all mail & packages across campus, as well as the receipt & tracking of all deliveries
  • Oversee the care & maintenance of sports turf field; lighting of sports field; care & maintenance of pickleball court and nets
  • Ensures the warehouse is clean and orderly

Administration:

  • Supervise the facilities department staff - coordinate and monitor each of their schedules
  • Keep track and order supplies for campus, such as: cleaning supplies, light bulbs, toilet paper/ paper towels, ice melt, etc.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of all equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date schedule for service on all equipment
  • Maintain service schedule for all fleet vehicles and ensure they are operational
  • Secure rental equipment for events/programs/projects
  • Engage with administration and various department heads to coordinate the needs for events and programs
  • Communicate and coordinate with property management company and personnel
  • Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors as needed
  • Various other administrative duties
  • Attend group meetings such as Logistics meeting.
  • Will assist with the Red Kettle program during the months of November and December.

All other duties as requested by the Business/Kroc Center Administrators.

Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 6 years’ experience managing staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • At least 5 years facility or maintenance work experience
  • Organizational and computer skills
  • General working knowledge of various systems like HVAC, electrical, etc.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Able to connect easily with others – talking to others to communicate effectively.
  • Able to flex hours and be on call 24 hours a day as needed
  • Able to do consistent physical work and lift at least 75 lbs.
  • Has a valid driver’s license

  • Experience working in multi-million-dollar facility
