Position: Facilities Specialist 3
Department: Facilities
Performs work related to construction, maintenance, and repair of the Gaming Enterprise Division’s (GED) buildings and facilities. This is the third in a series of three (3) classifications. Incumbents work at a high level of expertise, exercise judgment and independence in performance of duties, and will be assigned the responsibility to lead or instruct others.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
- Performs the duties of Facilities Specialist 1 and 2.
- Performs routine and complex maintenance activities without supervision.
- Oversees the maintenance of logs, records, preventive maintenance schedules, and other records.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls, as needed.
- Prepares job cost estimates for major, complex projects.
- Completes work orders with minimal or no direction and in cooperation with other team members, when necessary.
- Provides on-the-job training for assigned crew members in skills requirements of specific job tasks and compliance with regulations i.e.; electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, painting and masonry.
- Enforces health and safety standards rigorously; ensures work related injuries or incidents are reported to supervisor and Security but also ensures accurate and timely records are maintained for purposes of assessing training needs and taking corrective action.
- Ensures that an inventory of equipment is maintained to be able to respond to work requests in a timely manner.
- Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
- Identify, order, and install correct parts needed to repair and maintain equipment properly.
- Consults with supervisor on status of current and future projects.
- Confers with department head to review achievements and discuss needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless guest service.
- Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; uses as directed.
- Perform skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more building trades at a Journeyman level, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, kitchen appliances, swimming pools, and general mechanics.
- Required to use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Supports and enforces departmental as well as the GED’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Turns in found articles in accordance with Facilities and GED policies and procedures.
- Work proactively with a forward‑looking, innovative approach to property maintenance and problem‑solving.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, scheduling daily tasks and prioritizing work activities.
- Support property operations by responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and uphold Casino Del Sol customer service standards.
- Attends periodic departmental and GED meetings; attends professional and personal development training programs.
- Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
- Supports and enforces departmental as well as the GED’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Essential functions of the position:
- Must be able to independently push, pull, and turn a tool car (maximum weight up to 300 pounds) with or without a reasonable accommodation, and wear fitted tool belt (maximum weight up to 20 pounds).
- Must be able to move heavy objects (100 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet), with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder height, handle, pull, kneel, stoop, squat, grip, crouch, crawl, twist, and bend for duties, including inspections and work in confined or cramped spaces.
- Must be able to work indoor and outdoor environment and walk on uneven surfaces, up and downstairs, and higher than ten feet.
- May be exposed to chemical, fumes, cleaning agents and other hazardous materials.
- Must be able to drive/travel to or work at all CDS properties or any other events necessary for this specific role.
- Must be able to perform primary job duties while exposed to inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold, heavy rain, or high-humidity environments for extended durations.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (electrical wires), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
- Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests, team members and internal/external vendors positively and professionally.
- Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
- Must be able to respond to aural cues in full audible range in high noise conditions and be able to respond to visual cues and possess color perception.
- Must be able to work in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by telephone, and written correspondence, and occasionally use a two-way radio.
- Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of equipment, products, techniques and standards used for construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities to include electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, painting and masonry.
- Knowledge of standard hand and power tools and equipment used in the trades.
- Knowledge of chemicals used in the trades.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.
- Knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the trades.
- Knowledge of all relevant laws, regulations, and codes.
- Proficiency in soldering, brazing, welding, electrical and plumbing.
- Skill in the care and use of hand tools and equipment necessary to perform tasks.
- Skill in coordination and dexterity to work with power and hand tools, such as, drills, electric saws, hammers, sewer snakes, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
- Skill in locating and adjusting defects in systems and equipment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Ability to soft solder and silver solder.
- Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate as well as understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work cooperatively with, and make decisions based on information received from team members or guests.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and be fiscally prudent in choosing materials, tools, and procedures in finishing assigned tasks.
- Ability to estimate labor or material costs from blueprints or work plans.
- Ability to observe, monitor, or compare data to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
- Ability to quickly maneuver around casino and hotel areas.
- Ability to think clearly and respond calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to learn and retain locations, operation and repair procedures of the property’s equipment, mechanical systems and life safety systems.
- Ability to perform mathematical and geometric computations pertaining to the position.
- Ability to measure distances with a tape measure or other measuring device.
- Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
- Ability to lift, carry, and climb ladders to reach work areas as well as push and pull scaffolds when required to complete the job task.
- Ability to read blueprints as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to learn and follow departmental as well as the GED’s internal controls, policies, and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ability to complete and obtain required program Training Courses or Certifications within a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Seven (7) years’ experience in building maintenance, commercial building trade, or facilities maintenance/engineering, to include electrical, plumbing, sheetrock, painting and masonry, AND six (6) months lead or supervisory experience OR any combination of education and experience. Must successfully pass a written exercise.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
- Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and creativity,
- Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
- Must be able to work (may require shift changes), weekends, holidays, and special events), including overtime, as needed.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain, and retain a valid gaming license/background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Journeymen Electrician
- Journeymen Plumber
The Gaming Enterprise Division and the Tribal Enterprise Division (collectively Casino Del Sol) are divisions of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. As a result, preferential hiring will go in this order to: (1) enrolled members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (2) Spouses and biological and adopted children of enrolled Pascua Yaqui Tribal members who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (3) Enrolled member of other Federal recognized Tribes who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; and (4) all others who meet the position’s minimum qualifications.
