Position: Facilities Specialist 2

Department: Facilities

Performs general work related to construction, maintenance, and repair of the Gaming Enterprise Division’s (GED) buildings and facilities. This is the second in a series of three (3) classifications. Incumbents work at a higher level of expertise, exercise some judgment and independence in performance of duties, and may be assigned the responsibility to lead or instruct others.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  • Performs the duties of Facilities Specialist 1.
  • Performs routine maintenance activities without close supervision.
  • Performs complex maintenance activities under general direction.
  • Repairs and maintains various parts of buildings by utilizing the appropriate procedures for the specialty area.
  • Completes work orders with minimal direction.
  • Makes mathematical calculations and geometric computations as well as reads blue prints, when necessary to fulfill duties.
  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more building trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, kitchen appliances and general mechanics.
  • Required to use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Support property operations by responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Work proactively with a forward‑looking, innovative approach to property maintenance and problem‑solving.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, scheduling daily tasks and prioritizing work activities.
  • Ensures health and safety standards are rigorously followed; ensures work related injuries or incidents are reported to supervisor and Security and assists with maintaining accurate and timely records for purposes of assessing training needs and taking corrective action.
  • Prepares job cost estimates for minor projects.
  • Maintains logs, records, preventive maintenance schedules, and other records under general direction.
  • Maintains an inventory of equipment to be able to respond to work requests in a timely manner.
  • Replaces worn or broken parts through in-house inventory.
  • Works with team members in the design or fabrication of parts and assemblies, as needed.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, order, and install correct parts needed to repair and maintain equipment properly.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas at all times.
  • Responds to after-hours emergency calls, as needed.
  • Confers with supervisor to review achievements and discuss needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.
  • Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; uses as directed.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and uphold Casino Del Sol customer service standards.
  • Supports and enforces departmental as well as the GED’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Turns in found articles in accordance with Facilities and GED policies and procedures.
  • Attends periodic departmental and GED meetings; attends professional and personal development training programs.
  • Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Supports and enforces departmental as well as the GED’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential functions of the position:

  • Must be able to independently push, pull, and turn a tool car (maximum weight up to 300 pounds) with or without a reasonable accommodation, and wear fitted tool belt (maximum weight up to 20 pounds).
  • Must be able to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet), with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder height, handle, pull, kneel, stoop, squat, grip, crouch, crawl, twist, and bend for duties, including inspections and work in confined or cramped spaces.
  • Must be able to work indoor and outdoor environment and walk on uneven surfaces.
  • May be exposed to chemical, fumes, cleaning agents and other hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to drive/travel to or work at all CDS properties or any other events necessary for this specific role.
  • Must be able to perform primary job duties while exposed to inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold, heavy rain, or high-humidity environments for extended durations.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests, team members and internal/external vendors positively and professionally.
  • Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by telephone, and written correspondence, and occasionally use a two-way radio.
  • Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of equipment, products, techniques and standards used for construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities.
  • Knowledge of standard hand and power tools and equipment used in the trades.
  • Knowledge of chemicals used in the trades.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the trades.
  • Knowledge of all relevant laws, regulations, and codes.
  • Performs tasks in compliance with all relevant.
  • Proficiency in soldering, brazing, and welding.
  • Skilled in the care and use of hand and power tools and equipment necessary to perform tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Skilled in locating and adjusting defects in systems and equipment.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Ability to soft solder and silver solder.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate as well as understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team members and guests.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and be fiscally prudent in choosing materials, tools, and procedures in finishing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to estimate labor or material costs from blueprints or work plans.
  • Ability to observe, monitor, or compare data to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
  • Ability to perform mathematical and geometric computations pertaining to the position.
  • Ability to measure distances with a tape measure or other measuring device.
  • Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to make decisions based on information received from team members or guests.
  • Ability to distinguish between the full range of colors in the color spectrum to work with electrical wires.
  • Ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and climb ladders to reach work areas as well as push and pull scaffolds when required to complete the job task.
  • Ability to work at heights greater than ten feet.
  • Ability to lift arms above shoulder level to work in ceiling areas or on light fixtures.
  • Ability to work in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, equipment enclosures, closets, etc.
  • Ability to travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
  • Ability to read blueprints as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Maintaining a variety of work orders, records, and reports.
  • Using a computer and related software application
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with assigned employees, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years’ experience in building maintenance, commercial building trade, or facilities maintenance/engineering OR any combination of education and experience.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and creativity,
  • Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
  • Must be able to work (may require shift changes), weekends, holidays, and special events), including overtime, as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain, and retain a valid gaming license/background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
  2. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

The Gaming Enterprise Division and the Tribal Enterprise Division (collectively Casino Del Sol) are divisions of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. As a result, preferential hiring will go in this order to: (1) enrolled members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (2) Spouses and biological and adopted children of enrolled Pascua Yaqui Tribal members who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (3) Enrolled member of other Federal recognized Tribes who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; and (4) all others who meet the position’s minimum qualifications.
