Under the general supervision of the Manager, Maintenance and Grounds, the position provides maintenance and repair services to buildings, grounds and equipment, and performs other related duties as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Must exercise judgement based upon a thorough knowledge of procedures, guidelines and regulations. Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods, such as lock-out procedures, fall protection and confined space entry. Conducting work in a manner that accommodates campus requirements. Consequence of errors in judgment can result in safety hazards to the campus community. Work load backlog can delay critical business functions and impact the University's reputation.
Supervision Received
This position is under the day-to-day direction of the Support Services Assistants' Coordinator and supervision of the Manager, Maintenance and Grounds.
Supervision Given
This position does not supervise staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent including one year post-secondary trades related training. Over 2 years related experience.
Previous work in a unionized post-secondary environment preferred. Class 5 Driver's License required.
Ability to operate the following equipment is preferred: skid steer, tractor, articulating boom, etc. Ability to perform strenuous physical work, assume uncomfortable awkward positions and required to lift 50lbs on occasion. Ability to work in areas which have higher levels of noise using proper hearing protection. Ability to withstand working in the Kelowna climate conditions frequently. Ability to work in confined areas and sustain long period of bending. Ability to withstand heights and perform work safety. Ability to work flexible hours and or shifts and possibly weekends including afternoons and nights. Shifts are subject to change due to operational requirements. Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods, such as lock-out procedures, fall protection, and confined space entry.
