Job Profile Summary
Coordinate, schedule, install, maintain, repairs and oversees all plumbing related work. Work involves performance of skilled plumbing tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of plumbing equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed independently with minimal direction. Provide direction and training for other facilities staff as needed to accomplish plumbing tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, coordinate, schedule and oversee all plumbing related work.
• Perform all facets of plumbing tasks from minor (plumbing fixture repairs, drain cleaning, water distribution system monitoring) to more complex tasks such as (steam, sprinkler, waste line, venting, waterline and medical gas piping work, storm sewer pump work, water heater service).
• Has the ability to layout special plumbing, piping projects and make necessary upgrades to steam, hot water heating systems, and sprinkler systems, renews pipes, valves and fittings on pumps and other plumbing systems.
• Has the knowledge and ability to operate special plumbing/piping related equipment such as pipe cutters, reamers, threading machines, pro press equipment, sewer tapes, cables and other plumbing tools and equipment.
• Has the knowledge and ability to read, interpret and utilize plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and actions needed to successfully complete plumbing tasks.
• Has the knowledge and ability to interpret codes and other regulations related to the plumbing field to make effective decisions that result in compliant task outcomes.
• Utilizes advanced plumbing/piping skills and knowledge to train other staff in accomplishing successful plumbing tasks.
• Performs preventive and predictive maintenance for essential plumbing equipment/systems to maintain them in proper working condition.
• Assist department leadership in managing plumbing contractor work activities.
• May direct operations staff when necessary per leadership.
• Assist leadership in coordinating utility/equipment shutdowns as necessary to complete tasks/projects.
• Ensures that all contractor staff follows our health system policies and procedures on a fair and consistent basis. Monitor and document contractors work activities / or service to ensure specifications are met.
• Prioritizes, schedules, and follows up on all assigned projects.
• Coordinate and communicates task schedules and projected costs with the customer.
• Develop task specifications and update preventative/predictive maintenance procedures whenever new equipment is purchased or changes are made to current equipment or systems.
• Implements risk assessments, ICRA and PICRA safety plans, lockout tag-out, confined space, MSDS and all other regulatory programs to assure that staff is in compliance with all regulatory requirements such as JCAHO, State, OSHA, NEC, SOC, etc.
• Report all unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor.
• Documents all work performed and all training received (or given).
• Communicates with all departmental / interdepartmental staff as required.
• Attends meetings and in-services as scheduled.
• Keeps all logs current. Maintains expense budgets within pre-established guidelines.
• Requisitions supplies and materials by following purchasing and department specific procedures.
• Keep records of work and makes reports.
• Performs prevention maintenance work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
5 year of plumbing/pipe fitting skills experience required
Healthcare setting preferred
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
NYS Backflow Preventor certification a plus
ASSE Medical gas certification a plus

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
