POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Technician II to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our facility’s building systems, utilities, and infrastructure. This role is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement activities that minimize utility downtime and support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Our large manufacturing facility includes injection molding, IML, thermoforming, printing, and warehouse operations. This position focuses exclusively on facilities and utility systems and does not maintain production equipment.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, independent troubleshooter with strong electrical and mechanical skills and experience maintaining industrial utility systems.

What You’ll Do

• Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair facility and utility equipment failures.
• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems, including 480V three-phase power, motors, motor starters, VFDs, relays, contactors, sensors, and control circuits.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, valves, piping, fans, belts, bearings, and rotating equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain major facility utility systems such as chilled water, cooling towers, compressed air, HVAC, boilers, steam, and associated equipment, based on qualifications and experience.
• Support building automation systems (BAS), facility controls, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Maintain facility electrical distribution, lighting, plumbing, and supporting building infrastructure within your authorized scope.
• Install, modify, and commission facility electrical and mechanical equipment and components.
• Respond to utility breakdowns and facility emergencies, identifying root causes and completing safe, effective repairs.
• Perform inspections, identify recurring failures, and recommend improvements to equipment reliability.
• Maintain accurate CMMS work orders, preventive maintenance records, and equipment history.
• Support facility improvement and capital projects, including coordination with contractors and outside service providers.
• Identify critical spare parts and communicate inventory requirements.
• Assist and mentor less-experienced maintenance technicians as appropriate.
• Follow all plant safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, OSHA, and environmental procedures.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree, apprenticeship, industrial maintenance certification, or equivalent technical training preferred.
• 3–7 years of industrial facilities, utilities, or industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to independently diagnose problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Experience with three-phase electrical systems, motors, motor starters, VFDs, pumps, and rotating equipment.
• Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting multiple facility utility systems, such as HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, compressed air, boilers, steam, or BAS.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
• Working knowledge of CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple maintenance requirements, and respond effectively to facility emergencies.
• Ability to safely use electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Ability to perform work within applicable qualifications, certifications, and authorized scopes.
• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and in mechanical or equipment rooms as required.
• Availability for occasional off-shift, overtime, or emergency maintenance support.

Preferred Experience

• Industrial chilled water and cooling tower systems.
• Compressed air systems, including compressors, dryers, and distribution.
• Boilers, steam, and condensate systems.
• HVAC and building automation systems (BAS).
• Facility electrical distribution and motor control systems.
• PLCs, controls, sensors, and instrumentation associated with utility systems.
• CMMS-based preventive maintenance and reliability improvement programs.
• Contractor coordination and facility improvement or capital projects.

What Success Looks Like

As a Technician II, you will be expected to work with limited supervision, take ownership of assigned facility systems, and independently troubleshoot complex utility problems. You will identify root causes rather than simply replace failed components, communicate effectively with Facilities leadership and plant operations, and contribute to long-term equipment reliability.
