
The University of Iowa Custodial Services department is seeking a Facilities Mechanic III. This position performs maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of custodial equipment, including riding scrubbers, burnishers, vacuums, extractors, and other cleaning machinery. Maintains equipment reliability and operational readiness by inspecting equipment, identifying mechanical and electrical issues, ordering replacement parts, and completing repairs in a timely manner. Maintains inventory records, equipment databases, and repair documentation while providing support to custodial operations across campus. Operates departmental vehicles to transport equipment, tools, and parts as needed. Applies technical knowledge, safety practices, and customer service skills to ensure custodial staff have properly functioning equipment to support facility cleanliness and operations

About Facilities Management:
Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 500 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of our beautiful Iowa City campus. FM staff coordinate campus master planning, manage design & construction, maintain & clean the buildings & grounds, and provide utilities management.
