Summary:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of the manufacturing facilities. This role ensures that all buildings, equipment, utilities, and grounds are maintained to the highest standards while supporting operational goals, regulatory compliance, and a safe working environment. The Facilities Manager leads a team of technicians and coordinates with internal departments and external vendors to minimize downtime and optimize facility performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of facility maintenance technicians
- Handle team issues and apply conflict resolution to resolve problems
- Maintain work loads of team members and communication of progress to leadership
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of building infrastructure, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and production-support equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce facilities equipment failures and extend asset life.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, local safety regulations, and environmental standards; conduct regular audits and safety inspections.
- Manage facility-related projects, including renovations, expansions, and equipment installations, while controlling budgets and timelines.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support manufacturing operations and minimize disruptions.
- Manage vendor relationships for contracted services (janitorial, landscaping, waste management, security, etc.).
- Monitor and optimize energy usage, sustainability initiatives, and utility costs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, permits, and capital projects.
- Lead, train, and develop the facilities maintenance team; manage scheduling, performance, and professional development.
- Respond to and resolve emergency situations (equipment breakdowns, safety incidents, power outages) promptly.
- Receive calls from monitoring services when there are alarms on security and fire systems and take appropriate action
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems

Education and
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of facilities management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, industrial equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA).
- Proven experience managing maintenance teams and large-scale facility projects.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and vendor negotiation skills.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certifications such as CFM (Certified Facility Manager), OSHA 30-hour, or Lean/Six Sigma are a plus.
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in and around machinery, including at heights or in confined spaces as needed.
- Adherence to required PPE and working safely in a manufacturing environment and conform to safety Standards.
- Willingness to be available on off-shifts or on-call as required.
