Compensation: $100,000 - $133,000 / year

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Astrolab’s facilities and infrastructure. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing, engineering, testing, and office environments while supporting the company’s rapid growth and mission-critical hardware development programs. The Facilities Manager will oversee facility maintenance, infrastructure projects, contractor management, workplace safety initiatives, and facility-related capital improvements.

What you'll do:

Facilities Operations & Maintenance
  • Manage Astrolab’s Facilities Service Portal, ensuring timely response and resolution of maintenance, safety, and infrastructure requests
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for facility systems and equipment
  • Coordinate facility repairs, upgrades, and expansions to support manufacturing, testing, integration, and office operations
  • Maintain facility infrastructure to ensure operational readiness, safety, and compliance
Project Management & Infrastructure Development
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, EHS, and People & Culture to identify and execute facility improvement initiatives
  • Plan and implement infrastructure required to support production equipment, test systems, laboratories, and specialty processes
  • Lead facility capital projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, vendor selection, installation, and commissioning
  • Manage specialty utility systems, including LN2, GN2, compressed gas distribution, exhaust systems, and other critical facility infrastructure
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and with minimal disruption to ongoing operations
Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage external contractors, service providers, and construction vendors
  • Develop statements of work, review proposals, and manage project execution
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and schedule requirements
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop facilities personnel and support staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement
  • Drive employee engagement, professional development, and workforce retention
  • Effectively manage conflict, provide performance feedback, and conduct candid development conversations
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in partnership with EHS
  • Ensure facility activities comply with applicable safety regulationss building codes, and company policies
  • Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), contractor safety programs, and facility risk assessments
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and business continuity planning
Areas of Responsibility
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of:
  • Facility aesthetics and workplace environment in partnership with Workplace Experience
  • HVAC maintenance, repair, and upgrades
  • Electrical infrastructure maintenance and expansion
  • Plumbing systems maintenance and repair
  • Specialty gas distribution systems (LN2, GN2, compressed gases)
  • Facility construction, renovations, and tenant improvements
  • Vendor-managed facility services and maintenance contracts

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience managing facilities, maintenance, construction, or infrastructure projects in aerospace, manufacturing, testing, industrial, or commercial environments
  • Experience supporting customer-facing facility projects and infrastructure improvements
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing project budgets, schedules, and capital expenditures
  • Experience leading facility build-outs, expansions, or major infrastructure upgrades
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and construction activities
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems, including:
    • 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V, and 480V power systems
    • Service disconnects, transformers, and switchgear
    • Automatic transfer switches (ATS) and backup power systems
  • Hands-on experience with electrical infrastructure installation and maintenance, including:
    • Conduit installation
    • Single-phase and three-phase power distribution
    • Service disconnects
    • Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Experience planning, installing, and commissioning LN2, GN2, and other specialty utility systems
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, maintenance practices, and facility environmental controls
  • Knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and facility utilities
  • Understanding of commercial construction methods, including:
    • Structural framing (steel and wood)
    • Concrete construction
    • Commercial roofing systems
  • Experience supporting or maintaining ISO-classified cleanrooms and controlled environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing, vehicle integration, test laboratories, or advanced technology development environments
  • Working knowledge of facility-related regulatory requirements, building codes, and OSHA standards
  • Experience with facility management software, CMMS systems, or service ticketing platforms
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project leadership experience
