Purpose of the RoleBGIS is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the successful delivery of facilities management services at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. In this role, you will oversee contract delivery, ensure contractual KPIs and financial targets are achieved, maintain strong client relationships, and provide leadership across operations, compliance, subcontractor management, and technical asset performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and technically capable facilities professional who thrives in a complex, stakeholder-rich environment and brings strong knowledge of building infrastructure, compliance, and service delivery.
This role is based on-site at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and requires a hands-on, in-office presence to support service delivery, asset performance, contractor coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of integrated facilities management services in line with contractual KPIs and client expectations.
Manage customer relationships, meetings, reporting, and service outcomes to support a high level of client satisfaction.
Oversee contract financial performance, including budgets, expenditure, invoicing, and risk identification.
Coordinate maintenance, services, tendering, and subcontractor delivery using BGIS systems and procedures.
Ensure compliance with all relevant HSEQ, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical oversight across critical building infrastructure including electrical, mechanical, fire, and hydraulic systems.
Support asset lifecycle planning, maintenance strategies, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead, coach, and support team members and contractors to maintain a safe, accountable, and high-performing workplace.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
Demonstrated experience delivering integrated facilities management, property management, project management, and financial management services in complex environments.
Proven experience managing maintenance operations, subcontractors, procurement, and service performance.
Strong technical understanding of building infrastructure and services, including legislative and statutory requirements.
Sound commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Knowledge of HSEQ systems, occupational health and safety, and risk management practices.
Proficiency in CMMS and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong communication, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and people management skills.
Flexible, solutions-focused approach with the ability to adapt to changing operational requirements.
Desirable:
Experience in alliance, performance-based, or Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract models.
Exposure to estimating, energy management, and sustainability initiatives.
Relevant trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical, with post-trade technical qualifications.
Formal qualification in Facilities Management or equivalent industry experience.
