Dometic Marine’s facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site also manufactures select marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems.

We are a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Facilities Manager This position reports to the General Manager and will work in Sparta, TN.

About the position

As a Facilities Manager of the Sparta team, you will be involved in the overall maintenance of the equipment, building, grounds, and facility infrastructure which includes packaging equipment, racking, forklifts, and office building. This position has management responsibility of the facility projects, maintenance, and mold shop departments. Position schedules and coordinates the workload of the maintenance and mold shop staff as well as outside activities with vendors and contractors who may be performing work within appropriate budget requirements.

Your main responsibilities

  • Manages all building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the workload of the maintenance staff to optimize resources and maintain reliable operations
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate with the mold shop team to maximize output and schedule work as required to meet customer needs
  • Manage maintenance budget and contracts
  • Prepares cost estimates for facility projects
  • Manage preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan
  • Ensures facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and that work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines
  • Work with outside vendors in scheduling of routine pick-ups. (i.e., trash, hazardous waste, scrap)
  • Assist plant management as requested on any special projects
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors
  • Supervise and mentor facilities staff
  • Manage utility costs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and facilities management – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Five years of general industrial maintenance (electro-mechanical) and supervisory experience preferred
  • Lean or Lean Six Sigma training certification a plus
  • Working knowledge of general plant engineering and maintenance required
  • Functional knowledge of manufacturing processes including assembly, metal fabrication, weld, production, and forklift operations
  • Functional understanding of measurement equipment
  • Environmental and Safety experience including understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint; and the ability to learn other applications quickly.
  • Ability to be on call 24/7
