Job Description

Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Classification/Job Grade: Hourly

Location: Battle Creek, MI

Department: Manufacturing Plant

Supervised by: Supervisor

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician you will be responsible promptly and safely performing repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of building and facility equipment, fixtures and systems. Must be able to take and pass a mechanical aptitude test.

Pay rate based on passed test score.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs minor maintenance repair work in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, office remodeling and or/paint
  • Execute building maintenance including but not limited to replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and door knobs
  • Repair locking systems on doors, files, cabinets and lockers
  • Travel from the plant to the UHT Distribution Center to inspect facilities, buildings and grounds for routine maintenance; prioritize repairs and renovations as assigned
  • Resolve all assigned work orders at each facility
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc
  • Communicates effectively with maintenance supervisor
  • Demonstrates problem solving and decision making ability, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned or required
