Job Description

This is a full-time position, working on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at our facility located in Zona Franca Metropolitana, Barreal, Heredia.

Main Purpose: Our Reliability Engineers develop and implement strategies to achieve an optimal physical asset reliability and financial performance, through the effective management of the maintenance operational and financial KPIs. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, failure elimination, lifecycle cost optimization, and data-driven decision making to improve operational performance, reduce business risk, maximize asset value, and support the organization's strategic and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze recurring failures using methodologies such as RCA (Root Cause Analysis), 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance).
• Develop, monitor and analyze asset operational and financial indicators, including (among others):
◦ RAM indicators (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) Uptime.
◦ Maintenance Cost as a Percentage of Replacement Asset Value (MC/RAV)
◦ Total Cost per Unit Produced
◦ Unplanned Downtime Cost
◦ Maintenance Cost Mix (Corrective / Preventive / Predictive)
◦ Critical Spare Parts Inventory Turnover
◦ Energy Consumption per Unit Produced
◦ Asset Lifecycle Cost
• CAPEX Return on Investment (ROI)
• Data for OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) plant calculation.
• Support critical failure investigations and define with interdisciplinary teams improving actions.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans based on asset criticality.
• Support condition monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound testing, oil analysis, and other predictive or condition-based maintenance technologies (CBM).
• Support the application of the RIATS (Risk Assessment Tool) for the production and facilities areas to identify critical and obsolete equipment with interdisciplinary teams.
• Prepare technical and financial reports and performance analyses for management revieW
• Prepare technical and financial reports for equipment substitution.
• Ensure compliance with safety, occupational health, and environmental requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date technical information in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Conduct physical inventory audits of spare parts in coordination with warehouse assistants or the warehouse materials handlers.
• Support the creation of spare parts both for new production lines and facilities areas.
• Monitor spare parts consumption and adjust minimums, maximums and reorder points as necessary.
• Develop and propose improvements in the CMMS, inventory and visualization systems.
• Contact suppliers to obtain quotations for spares creations and equipment.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologists preferred.
• Advanced Excel and Minitab.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, reliability engineering, or asset management.
• Experience in failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience working with CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, Maximo, Infor, MP,
• Blue Mountain or similar systems.

Education / Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Specialization or certifications in the following areas are preferred:
o Reliability Engineering
o RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance)
o CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional)
o CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) or CMRP certification.
o MATLAB, Python, Power BI

Skills / Competencies:
Statistical failure analysis.
Physical asset management.
Predictive and preventive maintenance.
Interpretation of mechanical and electrical drawings.
Data analysis and KPI development.
Operational risk management.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Physical Requirements of the Position:
Moderate amounts of bending and twisting.
Lifting 50 lb.
