Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I in Camarillo, CA

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for completing a wide variety of tasks related to physical plant construction, installation, alteration, maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and maintain building structures, grounds, and interior structures
• Perform work in any of the following areas: maintenance, carpentry, cement finishing, electrical work, gardening/grounds, glazing, heating and refrigeration, locksmithing, masonry, metal work, painting, pest control, pipefitting, plastering, plumbing, roofing, sheet metal work, welding and related mechanical and trade work
• Set up for facility functions
• Grounds clean-up as directed by supervisor
• Work cooperatively with and maintain relationships with laboratory technicians and other professionals within the site
• Attend meetings and participate on committees as required
• Work overtime as needed
• Complete assigned jobs as identified by supervisor or on work orders

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent
• Minimum 0-1 years’ relevant experience in building systems maintenance

OR

• Appropriate licenses
• Minimum 0-1 years’ related experience in building systems maintenance

Preferred

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in related field from 2-year college or technical school
• Experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment

Other Qualifications

• Must pass a background check
• Must pass a drug screen
• May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Incumbent may be required to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.

Pay Range $23.07-$27.50/hr.

Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
