Job Description

This is a temporary, full-time position for a 6-month period, working on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at our facility located in Zona Franca Metropolitana, Barreal, Heredia.

Our Facilities & Maintenance Engineers 2 develop and analyze the execution of the preventive and corrective maintenance of the Manufacturing and Facilities equipment in the site as well as coordinate with the Facilities/Maintenance Superintendent or Facilities Project Lead the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings and other facilities. In addition, this position needs to coordinate and supervise the technician’s performance as necessary. The Facilities and Maintenance Engineer l must control and fill out official documentation regarding the department function and support the new products and process introduction into the site. It is required to manage properly the regulatory documentation and follow it without exception. This person needs to be a model for the rest of the people about to follow procedures and improve them.

Main Responsibilities:
• Follow an implement all personal and manufacturing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) as defined by Viant’s practices, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure that FDA regulations are met.
• Control, evaluate and improve the preventive maintenance tasks in order to have a high reliability of the equipment/building operation according to regulations.
• Provide supervision and guidance to the Facilities and Maintenance Technicians and supervisors to ensure the proper operation of all buildings and cleanrooms in the Costa Rica location.
• Participate actively to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and the plant.
• Participate in Gemba’s.
• Analyze and resolve NCR´s and other quality department required documentation.
• Generate validation protocols, execute the protocols and report of the new equipment under supervision.
• Generate Intrusion Plans (INT-PLAN) as required.
• Generate saving projects (VIP’s).
• Actively participate in the development of RIATs for each production area or facilities.
• Additional functions may be to manage some contractors and consultants. This position needs to have the capacity to project progress tracking.
• Support the EHS Department by reviewing that the life/safety systems are always operable. This includes but not limited to, sprinkler system, smoke and fire detection system, fire extinguishers, signage, and evacuation plans as well as fire prevention.
• This engineer must exemplify the implementation of the EHS program across all activities.
• Review and apply all regulations applicable to the CR site according with the operations of the facilities systems (FDA, ISO, CR laws, etc.)
• Analyze, propose and implement the plan to improve continuously the operation of facilities and maintenance equipment using Lean Techniques.
• Develop and find new suppliers and contractors to help in the normal Facilities and manufacturing equipment operation.
• Responsible to lead the spare parts definition, inventory and coordinate that in the site there are the necessary quantity of them.
• Keep good relationships with all departments in order to provide fluency in the business process.
• Develop or revise technical documentation to specify maintenance and facilities processes; including documentation of equipment qualification, setup and maintenance procedure.
• Negotiate quotes with vendors maintaining a positive and healthy relation. This person must focus on problem solving with vendors and may recommend termination or continuity of vendor
• Keep personal and personnel in charge of development plan active (IDP).
• Provide drafting or design drawings to support manufacturing processes’ recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
• Desirable demonstrated knowledge and understanding of GMPs, FDA regulations, ISO 13485 requirements.
• Knowledge in EHS field.
• Knowledge about project progress tracking.

Work Experience:
• Necessary to have experience as Facilities Engineer or Maintenance Engineer for at least 3 years, will be a plus in medical company.

Education / Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, electromechanical or electronic engineering. It could be another engineering-related position with vast experience in the field.
• Must be bilingual Spanish/English (Intermediate level).

Skills / Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office software and possess working knowledge of Auto Cad and Project Program.
Experience in Lean manufacturing process.
Good knowledge of statistical tools.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and determine priorities.
Must be flexible and adapt to changing environments and priorities.
Soft skills such as: Excellent communication skills and teamwork ability, Proactive attitude and ability to
manage multiple tasks simultaneously, Problem-solving skills and conflict management, Stress
Management and Resilience, Time Management and Self-Organization, Emotional Intelligence (EI),
Analytical Thinking, Leadership and Social Influence.
Must be able to quickly and independently make decisions.
Organized.
Person who promotes innovation strategies in the site as energy saving, environmental conservation, among other.
Availability to attend events in non-standard schedules.
Knowledge of problem-solving techniques.
Proactive.
Intermediate knowledge in HVAC Systems, Air Compressors, Fire Suppression and Detection Systems,
Electromechanical and Building Management for Facilities Engineers.
Solving complex problems with oversight across different technologies where coordination with engineering teams and external parties is required, when necessary, for maintenance engineers.
Yellow Belt Certification.
Moderate amounts of bending and twisting.
Lifting 50 lb.
Passport Required
