Asphalt Green is a nonprofit sports and fitness center located on the Upper East Side at 1750 York Avenue and East 91st St. (see www.asphaltgreen.org for more information on who we are).
We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Associate to support the safe and reliable operation of our Upper East Side campus. This role is responsible for executing assigned work orders, performing routine maintenance and repairs, monitoring building systems, and supporting pool operations to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and ready for daily use.
SCHEDULE:
Sunday to Thursday, 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Not negotiable )
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate, monitor, and maintain building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
- Maintain pool systems (filtration, chemical levels, temperature) and accurately document readings in DigiQuatics.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies, including leaks, alarms, and safety concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in mechanical rooms and assigned common areas.
- Document shift activities and work orders accurately in designated systems.
- Coordinate shift handoffs with engineers to ensure operational continuity.
- Collaborate with staff across departments to support operational needs and minimize disruption to programs and events.
- Communicate with team members, engineers, and vendors regarding maintenance requests, equipment status, and safety concerns.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building engineering or facilities maintenance.
- FDNY fire and life safety certifications (F-01, F-07, S-12, S-13, S-95) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred; required within 90 days of hire if not currently certified.
- Working knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and general repairs.
- Experience using commercial maintenance tools and following established safety protocols.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined or elevated spaces, and remain on feet for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and make sound decisions under time-sensitive conditions.
- Basic computer proficiency: experience with work order systems, BMS, Salesforce, or similar platforms preferred.
- Experience with pool operations, mechanical plant systems, or building automation systems is a plus.
