Our client, an established organisation within the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities, Maintenance and Health & Safety Manager to oversee its facilities, maintenance operations, workplace safety, and sustainability initiatives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that buildings, infrastructure, and facilities across multiple sites remain safe, efficient, compliant, and well-maintained. The role involves managing maintenance operations, supervising relevant team members, overseeing budgets and contractors, and leading the organisation's Health & Safety and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, infrastructure, plant, and equipment across all sites, excluding workshop equipment.
• Supervise the Facilities and Sustainability Executive, Health & Safety Officer, and maintenance staff, ensuring effective workload allocation and performance management.
• Plan and coordinate routine, preventive, and long-term maintenance schedules.
• Source, negotiate with, and manage contractors and service providers, ensuring quality, compliance, and cost effectiveness.
• Manage facilities and maintenance budgets, monitor expenditure, and report variances to senior management.
• Coordinate building projects, renovations, site improvements, and office relocations.
• Ensure building services, including water, heating, and electrical systems, are properly maintained and faults are resolved promptly.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve Health & Safety policies, procedures, and emergency evacuation plans.
• Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee risk assessments, hazard identification, safety inspections, audits, equipment testing, and corrective actions.
• Supervise the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring appropriate preventive measures are implemented.
• Maintain accurate Health & Safety documentation, including risk assessments, accident records, inspection reports, and training logs.
• Organise Health & Safety training, employee inductions, and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
• Develop and implement sustainability initiatives focusing on waste management, energy conservation, and reducing the organisation's environmental impact.
• Collaborate with other departments to promote sustainable practices and a strong safety culture.
• Monitor industry developments and recommend improvements to facilities management, workplace safety, and sustainability.

Requirements

• A-Level standard of education.
• Minimum of three years of proven experience in a similar managerial role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong administrative, organisational, and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment.
