Position: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting resort buildings, facilities, utilities, and related infrastructure to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for employees and guests.

This position performs a wide variety of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and general construction tasks throughout the resort. Work may include basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, appliance and fixture repair, snow removal, and general building maintenance.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of independently troubleshooting problems while working effectively with other resort departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on resort buildings, facilities, and associated infrastructure.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot facility and building-related issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, sinks, drains, valves, piping, and fixtures.
• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within the employee's training and authorization.
• Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC and heating systems.
• Perform carpentry work including repairs to doors, walls, trim, flooring, stairs, railings, cabinets, and other building components.
• Perform drywall repair, painting, caulking, weatherproofing, and other general building repairs.
• Repair, replace, and install doors, locks, hardware, fixtures, signage, shelving, and other facility components.
• Inspect buildings and facilities for damage, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and potential failures.
• Respond to maintenance requests from resort departments in a timely and professional manner.
• Diagnose equipment and facility problems and communicate repair needs to supervisors when additional resources or specialized contractors are required.
• Assist contractors and outside vendors performing work throughout resort facilities.
• Maintain and repair exterior building areas, walkways, decks, stairs, railings, and other structures.
• Assist with snow and ice removal from entrances, walkways, stairs, decks, roofs, and other designated areas during winter operations.
• Assist with seasonal opening, closing, and preparation of resort buildings and facilities.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance equipment when properly trained and authorized.
• Operate resort vehicles and utility vehicles as required and when properly authorized.
• Maintain maintenance shops, storage areas, tools, equipment, and supplies in a clean and organized condition.
• Track materials and notify supervisors when parts, tools, or supplies need to be ordered or replaced.
• Complete assigned work orders and accurately document completed maintenance and repairs as required.
• Follow applicable lockout/tagout procedures and other established safety practices.
• Properly use and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate facility emergencies, hazards, equipment failures, and significant maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Coordinate with Mountain Operations and other resort departments when maintenance work may impact normal operations.
• Assist with special projects, renovations, installations, and other resort improvement projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is performed throughout resort buildings, maintenance areas, mechanical spaces, outdoor facilities, and other operational areas.

Employees may be exposed to cold, heat, snow, rain, wind, dust, noise, chemicals, electrical equipment, mechanical systems, power tools, ladders, and moving equipment.

During winter operations, work may be performed in freezing temperatures and snowy or icy conditions. Employees are expected to dress appropriately for conditions and use required PPE.

Work Schedule

Facilities Maintenance Technicians may be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended shifts depending on resort operations and maintenance needs.

Because resort facilities support ongoing guest and employee operations, Facilities Maintenance Technicians may occasionally be required to respond to urgent or unexpected maintenance issues outside of their normal duties or schedule.

Work schedules may vary during peak operating periods, special events, seasonal transitions, and emergency situations.

Safety Expectations

Safety is an essential responsibility of this position. Facilities Maintenance Technicians must evaluate work areas and equipment before beginning maintenance or repairs and use appropriate tools, PPE, and safe-work procedures for each task.

Employees are expected to follow applicable electrical, ladder, chemical handling, lockout/tagout, equipment operation, and other established safety procedures.

Employees must not perform electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or other specialized work beyond their training, authorization, or any legally required licensing.

Unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, building hazards, and significant facility issues must be immediately communicated to the appropriate supervisor.

All employees are expected to contribute to a safety-focused resort culture and help maintain safe, functional, and professional facilities for both guests and employees.

QualificationsQualifications

• Previous facility maintenance, building maintenance, construction, mechanical, or related experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, wind, and rain.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operationally required.
