Position: Lead Specialist
Department: Facilities
The Lead Specialist is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the landscape grounds, cleans parking lot and pump area, and performs a wide variety of skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair for the Del Sol Market Place, RV Park, Amenity Building, and Gaming Enterprise. The responsibility to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives. Leads and evaluates the work performance of RV Park Landscaping employees to assure a high level of standard.
Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
- Performs lead responsibilities such as planning, assigning, and directing work; developing and implementing policies and procedures; conducting training programs; evaluating performance; and handling team member relations matters.
- Assists Facilities management in collaborating with team members on the design of professional development plans that support their continuous learning.
- Participates in the planning of and preparation for regularly scheduled meetings with team members.
- Leads and assists in tree, shrub, and flower care, including planting, seeding, laying and cutting of sod, transplanting, pruning, removal and checking for diseases, fertilize and apply herbicides/pesticides to turf grasses, soils, trees and ornament shrubs, and keeps grounds free of weeds and trash.
- Perform operator-level inspections, servicing and maintenance of assigned tools and equipment.
- Prepare and clean areas or equipment undergoing repair, painting, maintenance, construction or other related activity.
- Maintain security and accountability for all tools, equipment and materials required in performance of duties.
- Perform sidewalk cleaning, parking lot sweeps, carwash walls and area clean and free of debris daily, and trash bin area must be kept clean and free of trash on the ground around Del Sol Market Place and RV Park.
- Maintain and clean all windows on facility including archway to entrance.
- Maintain and clean spa and equipment.
- Maintain and use safety and personal protective equipment.
- Perform housekeeping services to maintain safe, clean, and orderly conditions in the workplace.
- Will be required to be on-call as needed.
- Conducts daily inspections of the Del Sol Market Place and RV Park to ensure the cleanliness of all areas.
- Makes recommendations regarding Del Sol Market Place and RV Park landscaping and procedures for grounds maintenance.
- Coordinates procurement and usage of materials and equipment.
- Identifies and corrects unsafe practices and conditions.
- Enforces performance standards, policies, and procedures relating to Facilities; ensures compliance with facilities-related safety regulations
- Ensures completion of projects in a timely manner working independently or with other team members.
- Completes a shift report after each shift; documents shift accomplishments and issues for manager’s review and/or action.
- Posts and distributes memos from other departments making sure staff are aware of important information.
- Maintains maintenance records as required by pertinent regulations. Assists with maintaining the department filing system by filing memos, correspondence, and other documents.
- Maintains communication and cooperation with all departments.
- Repairs and replaces damaged or worn parts and equipment.
- Inspects and services refrigeration equipment including all kitchen equipment.
- Identifies and corrects unsafe practices and conditions.
- Adjusts and maintains internal electrical and electronic control systems; cleans coils, blowers, and checks motors and belt tensions.
- Participates in on-going professional and personal development activities to keep up with trends in the industry as well as for self-improvement.
- Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; uses as directed.
- Sweep, scrub, and mop rooms, halls, stairway, and offices; strips, sands, refinishes, waxes, or buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets; operates custodial equipment including buffers, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, and vacuum cleaners.
- Supports and enforces departmental as well as the GED’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Turns in found articles in accordance with Facilities and GED policies and procedures.
- Attends periodic departmental and GED meetings; attends professional and personal development training programs.
- Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
- Required to use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work proactively with a forward‑looking, innovative approach to property maintenance and problem‑solving.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, scheduling daily tasks and prioritizing work activities.
- Supports property operations by responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and uphold Casino Del Sol customer service standards.
- Empty, clean, move, and sanitizes waste receptacles and ashtrays; picks up papers and other debris.
- Dusts, clean, and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment; remove cob webs.
- Change out light bulbs and fluorescent tubes and complete task assignments as Specialist 1, 2 and 3.
- Cleans and disinfects rest rooms, floor mats, doors, drinking fountains and fixtures; restocks and may order supplies as needed; ensures specified sanitary standards are maintained; may perform minor pest control tasks in buildings.
- Cash walls; removes markings on walls, rest room stalls, countertops, washes window, mirrors, and cleans filters.
- Move furniture, equipment, or other heavy objects on request or for set-up of campus functions, meetings, and special events, utilizing pallet jacks, hand trucks, or similar equipment; makes minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
- Oversees and participates in the more difficult work of custodial staff; oversees and coordinates assignments for assigned custodial staff; maintains buildings and furniture in a clean, sanitary, safe, and secure condition during an assigned shift; cleans and performs minor maintenance repairs on assigned equipment.
- Leads, plans, trains, and reviews the work of assigned staff; inspects completed work; assures that work is performed in compliance with instructions, meeting quality standards.
- Oversees the use, care, and operation of assigned equipment.
- Verifies the work of assigned team members for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential functions of the position:
- Must be able to constantly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder height, handle, pull, kneel, stoop, squat, grip, crouch, climb, crawl, twist, push, balance and bend for duties, including inspections and work in confined or cramped spaces, indoor/outdoor events, uneven surfaces, and up or down stairs.
- May be exposed to chemical, fumes, cleaning agents and other hazardous materials.
- Must be able to perform primary job duties while exposed to inclement weather, including extreme heat, cold, heavy rain, or high-humidity environments for extended durations.
- Must be able to withstand exposure to dust, noise, fumes, high voltage, and toxic materials.
- Must be able to drive/travel to or work at all CDS properties or any other events necessary for this specific role.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (electrical wires), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
- Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests, team members and internal/external vendors positively and professionally.
- Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
- Must be able to work in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by telephone, and written correspondence, and occasionally use a two-way radio.
- Requires 24-hour response availability seven days per week for emergency situations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge in spraying herbicides and pesticides.
- Knowledge in the different kinds of turf, soil types, and drainage.
- Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape, maintenance and repair as well as hazard and safety practices common to the trade.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Basic knowledge of applicable Facilities related regulations as well as the Gaming Enterprise Division’s internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Lead principles and practices.
- Basic knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and scheduling practices.
- Basic knowledge of modern inventory, filing, and recordkeeping practices and procedures.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Basic skills in exercising independent judgment and initiative.
- Basic skills in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Ability to interpret building codes and regulations as they relate to Faculties and Landscape.
- Ability to diagnose problems and make recommendations.
- Ability to make estimates of materials required.
- Ability to repair and replace damaged parts and equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to read and interpret pertinent regulations.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and be fiscally prudent in accomplishing assigned tasks.
- Ability to read and implement blue prints and landscape schematics, grading and drainage, patio and walk construction, and water garden installation.
- Ability to use skid steers, trailers, backhoes, power augers, tillers, and other heavy equipment related to the job
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
- Ability to understand and follow procedures to handle and store chemicals properly as well as maintain log of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence relative to reports.
- Ability to complete all required program Training Courses as needed within a timely manner.
Mandatory Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience of basic and routine landscaping methods, techniques, materials, chemicals, and equipment related to hardscapes and softscapes.
- Skills with Microsoft Windows based software.
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Must be able to work (may require shift changes), weekends, holidays, and special events), as needed.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain, and retain a valid gaming license/background check.
Preferred Requirements:
- Two (2) years Lead experience.
The Gaming Enterprise Division and the Tribal Enterprise Division (collectively Casino Del Sol) are divisions of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. As a result, preferential hiring will go in this order to: (1) enrolled members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (2) Spouses and biological and adopted children of enrolled Pascua Yaqui Tribal members who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; (3) Enrolled member of other Federal recognized Tribes who meet the position’s minimum qualifications; and (4) all others who meet the position’s minimum qualifications.
