The Facilities & Fleet Technician 1 (FFT) is primarily responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of blood center vehicles and building equipment. This position must be able to perform work of a fairly routine nature requiring a reasonable amount of judgment in performing the daily preventative maintenance, upkeep, and repair of Carter BloodCare’s (CBC) properties, fleet, and equipment. Interaction is required with all blood center departments and vendors.
The FFT exemplifies and champions CBC Core Values and Code of Conduct, and adheres to CBC policies and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To support ongoing development and organizational goals, the FFT is required to attend meetings and training sessions, as assigned. A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (as specified in the current Vehicle Safety Loss Control Guidelines) are required.
Periodic travel between assigned work areas to support other locations/projects in CBC service regions is required. This position may require working varied shifts, extended hours, weekends, and/or overtime to support operational needs. This position is subject to “on-call” rotations. Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

QualificationsEDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1 year of building maintenance experience
- Minimum of 1 year of vehicle maintenance experience, preferred
- General mechanical background, preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of the use of industry-related tools and equipment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge
- Basic knowledge of sheetrock repair, painting and minor carpentry, preferred
PHYSICAL/MENTAL STRESS FACTORS
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, climb steps, bend, and move and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear and /or taste or smell
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; hazardous materials; vibrations and risk of electrical shock. Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory and is provided by CBC
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat; Exposure to loud noise levels
- Routine exposure to blood is not anticipated in this position; however, incidental or potential exposure may occur in certain circumstances
