Facilities & Event Services Lead

Dunedin Venues Management Limited (DVML) manages some of the South's most iconic venues, delivering exceptional event experiences that contribute to the vibrancy and prosperity of our community.

We are seeking an experienced Facilities & Event Services Lead to join our Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a practical leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, facilities maintenance, logistics, and event delivery in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring our venues are maintained to a high standard, event-ready, and supported by efficient operational processes.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead a team of venue support staff, coordinate venue setups, maintenance activities, contractor management, and operational logistics across multiple venues, while helping deliver exceptional experiences for clients, hirers, and event attendees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Venue Support team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Coordinate venue setups, event logistics and operational support across DVML venues.
  • Build positive relationships with internal teams, clients, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Support maintenance programmes and contract management to ensure facilities remain safe and event ready.
  • Oversee venue assets, equipment, presentation standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency across venue support services.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience in facilities management, venue operations, logistics, events, or a similar environment.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and willingness to get involved operationally and be hands on.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail and commitment to customer service.

  • A proactive approach to health, safety and continuous improvement.
