About the role: The Facilities/Equipment Maintenance and Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all manufacturing equipment, building, and safety. In addition, is responsible for managing all EHS required compliance activities and identifying and reporting opportunities for Lean improvement efforts. Assist with executing all Environmental Health and Safety activities for the site. The EHS Coordinator supports and performs activities necessary to maintain the facilities and grounds to support a safe and clean working environment that meet all Viant, OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ISO, and FDA regulations.
What you will ‘do:
Facilities / Equipment / Maintenance
• Ensure high safety standards for all facility equipment and systems.
• Lead hourly maintenance associates to achieve plant objectives in safety, quality, cost, customer service, and continuous improvement.
• Design and implement preventative maintenance programs to maintain equipment and building systems.
• Analyze tooling performance and maintenance effectiveness; diagnose issues and expedite repairs.
• Oversee equipment reliability and lifecycle management aligned with preventive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate equipment installation, validation, and re-validation activities.
• Prioritize maintenance work orders and maintain Preventative Maintenance System in compliance with Quality System requirements.
• Review operational reports and metrics to adjust maintenance plans and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate contractors and maintenance teams to execute projects efficiently.
• Review contractor invoices and manage requisitions for payment.
• Manage departmental budgets and initiate purchases for equipment, parts, and materials.
• Collaborate with Engineering on equipment requirements for manufacturing processes.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and customer concerns.
• Facilitate weekly maintenance team communication meetings
• Ensure compliance with FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 13485:2016 standards.
• Initiate Discrepancy Reports and Equipment Identification Documents as required.
• Prepare Capital Expenditure Requests as needed.
• Support internal and external inspections and audits.
Safety Responsibilities
• Chair the Safety Team and promote a culture of safety, accident prevention, and employee engagement.
• Lead onboarding and training for Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) compliance.
• Investigate accidents, conduct root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Address workplace health issues and incidents.
• Maintain OSHA 300 logs and facilitate required OSHA training.
• Manage Preventable Safety Observation (PSO) program, including hazard investigations and tracking.
• Communicate safety performance, risks, and program updates to management.
• Oversee the First Responder Program and ensure required training compliance.
• Review and update EHS procedures, reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure safe use of equipment, chemicals, and adherence to safety standards.
• Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety supply inventory.
• Lead emergency preparedness activities, including drills, evacuations, and disaster response.
• Partner with Senior Leadership on implementation of new safety initiatives.
• Support third-party inspections, audits, and facility documentation (e.g., fire routes, drawings).
Job Requirements:
• High school diploma; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations.
• Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.).
• nderstanding of budgeting and performance management.
• Knowledgeable of Preventative Maintenance Software, Microsoft Office
Job Experience:
• 3 to 5 years of previous supervisory experience.
• 2 years of safety, federal regulatory compliance experience.
• 2 years of practical experience in electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and general plant maintenance required.
• Previous experience in manufacturing with a preferrence in medical devices or other regulated environment desired.
• Previous hands-on maintenance background essential.
