Job Description

Primary Duties

  1. Electrical Systems Operation & Maintenance
  • Manage the daily operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical systems, including:
  • High- and low-voltage power distribution systems
  • Transformers, switchgear, MSBs, and DBs
  • Generators, UPS systems, and batteries
  • Lighting, small power, and grounding systems
  • Monitor and analyze electrical load trends and power quality.
  • Ensure high system uptime and reliability through effective preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for power interruptions and electrical equipment failures.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  1. Engineering, Projects & Technical Support
  • Support preliminary engineering activities based on equipment layouts and production plans.
  • Coordinate electrical design, procurement, installation, and project execution to ensure compliance with approved specifications and scope.
  • Plan and execute electrical system modifications, extensions, and new installations.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for electrical projects.
  • Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of new or upgraded electrical systems.
  1. EHS & Safety Compliance
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address electrical and facility-related safety risks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical, statutory, and safety requirements.
  • Enforce safety procedures during facility operations, renovation works, and project execution.
  • Monitor and follow up on PPE and safety compliance among employees and contractors.
  1. Energy Management
  • Monitor electricity consumption and identify opportunities for energy savings.
  • Support the implementation and compliance of the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulations 2008 (EMEER).
  • Conduct load balancing and power optimization studies.
  • Recommend and support initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for managing and supervising electrical works within the facility.
  • Ensure all electrical systems and installations are operated, maintained, and managed safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues, including power interruptions, equipment failures, and electrical faults.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurring electrical problems.
  • Ensure the facility's electrical systems are maintained in good, safe, and reliable operating condition.
  • Carry out and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical works comply with applicable statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers for electrical maintenance, repair, testing, and project activities.
  • Monitor electrical system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, safety, and energy efficiency.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in facility electrical maintenance, building services, or a similar engineering environment.
  • Valid BO Chargeman Certificate is required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, protection devices, and energy management.
  • Familiarity with MV, LV, and ELV systems.
  • Electrical Energy Manager (EEM) certification is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills with internal teams, contractors, and consultants.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance and project activities effectively.
