The Director of Facilities is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, and oversight of all parish buildings, grounds, and physical assets. This position ensures that parish facilities support the mission of the Church through safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments for worship, ministry, and community life. Must be able to manage and oversee staff including some volunteers.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Oversight:
· Provide comprehensive leadership and strategic oversight for all parish buildings, grounds, cemetery, and physical assets to ensure facilities effectively support the mission of the parish.
· Develop and implement long-range facilities maintenance and capital improvement plans.
· Advise the Pastor and parish leadership on facility-related priorities, risks, and infrastructure needs.
· Propose and manage annual facilities operating and capital budgets; monitor expenditures and provide financial forecasting for future needs.
· Serve as primary liaison with Archdiocesan offices regarding facilities compliance and construction approvals.
Facilities Operations & Maintenance
· Oversee all maintenance operations, ensuring timely completion of preventative, routine, and emergency repairs.
· Complete any hands on work that would be required.
· Establish and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, including documentation and scheduling.
· Direct the diagnosis and resolution of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, and structural issues.
· Ensure proper operation and compliance of parish water systems, including monitoring wells, usage reporting, and coordination of required testing.
· Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, warranties, and service agreements.
Capital Projects & Compliance
· Provide leadership and oversight for all construction, renovation, and modification projects.
· Ensure full compliance with Archdiocesan policies, city/county codes, ADA requirements, and safety regulations.
· Develop project scopes, obtain bids, evaluate contractors, and oversee work to ensure completion within scope, budget, and timeline.
· Identify risk management concerns and implement corrective action plans.
Staff & Vendor Management
· Directly supervise and evaluate Facilities Maintenance and Sanitation staff.
· Establish work priorities, performance standards, and safety expectations.
· Oversee and coordinate the work of contractors, technicians, and service providers.
· Serve as primary point of contact for facility-related volunteers and parish ministries.
· Negotiate and manage service contracts to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Grounds & Cemetery Oversight
· Ensure parish grounds, landscaping, irrigation systems, and cemetery are maintained with professionalism and reverence.
· Oversee seasonal landscaping plans, tree maintenance, and irrigation management.
· Ensure cemetery operations reflect respect for the deceased and their families.
Campus Security & Risk Management
· Oversee campus security protocols including building access, alarm systems, and emergency response procedures.
· Serves as 1st point of contact for security and fire alarms
· Respond to facility-related emergencies as needed.
· Ensure compliance with safety standards and emergency preparedness procedures.
Parish Operations Support
· Oversee facility setup and breakdown for liturgies, meetings, parish events, and special functions.
· Maintain inventory control systems for equipment, tools, and facility-related assets.
Additional Responsibilities
· Maintains a formal record of all inspections, tests, repairs and/ or updates:
o Maintains files of all municipal and state safety/ security guidelines
o Maintains ADA equipment (AED equipment, first aid kits etc.) ensuring equipment is up to code and in proper working order
o Performing regular inspection and operational performance of all fire and security alarms and equipment (fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, etc.), scheduling and overseeing repairs and updates as needed.
