Position Type: Part Time
Salary Range: $19.13 - $19.13 Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Facilities Attendant at Whatcom Family YMCA performs routine janitorial duties to ensure cleanliness of facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms, and other assigned areas of the building following the assigned daily, weekly and monthly Tasks Sheet.
- Empty waste containers.
- Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
- Report building problems.
- Report supply stock problems.
- Dispose of trash and performs sidewalk/exterior clean up.
- Complete the two week task chart.
- Follows organizations policies and procedures regarding protecting youth from abuse; including screening and selection, training and supervision, and responding to allegations. Communicate to all staff and volunteers the organizations commitment to protect youth from abuse.
- Follows mandated reporting requirements.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements: Six months or more of related experience preferred. Possess sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
Recommended Qualities:
Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions.
Have an ability to stay alert to potential safety and security problems.
Work independently with an ability to carry out instructions independently.
Successfully get along with people with diverse backgrounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
2. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
4. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
5. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
6. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.
