This role will be located at one of there London branches.

My client specifies and sells high end architectural products, which determine the look of any given buildings exterior once installed.

They come in a range of natural looks and finishes and sizes from thicker blocks to thin lightweight panels.

The Role:

To oversee the design for external elevation cladding panel layout drawings and fixing system layouts for our clients. You will be working from general architect intent drawings or ‘already dimensioned’ panel design drawings received from our design and build contractor customers.

The principal responsibility for this new role within our company is to protect the interests of the client by both designing façade cladding and also at times being the link between our outsourced design suppliers and external fixing contractor and /or main contractor clients.

This will involve issuing instructions to our design suppliers where necessary and checking their work once returned, before issuing to the internal project manager for release to our production.

This could be for full elevation panel layouts from the GA’s, or just dimensioning the joints and interfaces other materials from pre-marked up drawings. It could be also for the fixing system layouts if our customer is supplying the panel layouts themselves. You will also do your own design work using mainly Autocad, to bring architect drawings to construction issue, and using the usual upload design packages such as 4P. This will be a varied role, because we start the process at architect advice stage to get our façade cladding products specified and then progress to contractor advice at tender stage.

This involves doing drawing take-offs, with panel type and size scheduling. It also involves helping in the sales pitching process by helping the sales and estimating team to show solutions to panel configurations and fixing system solutions.

Then, once we get the order the real design starts, ie. a layout design for the whole façade and fixing system. You will maintain good relationships with our outsourced façade design partners, who will welcome your input to minimise their own omissions which could affect the project progress if not caught early on in the process. You will help the Design Manager, the 3 Estimators and our Project Managers to understand timelines to design completion on any given project or area.
