Job Description

The primary role of this position is building, repairs, and modifications of one-of-a-kind equipment and parts as opposed to repeatedly making the same part. The fabricator’s responsibilities include operating metal machining tools such as press brake, shear, grinders, iron worker, drills, band saw and other machines. This position would be based in Alphia Ogden, Utah headquarters and support operations at 3 plants across the US. 10 to 20% Travel to other plants as needed.

NEEDED SKILLS:

Required -

  • Two years formal fabrication vocational training or 5+ years of applicable experience directly related to metal fabrication (sheet metal throu gh ½ inch)
  • Proficient at operating press brake, shear, grinders, iron worker, drills, band saw and other machines.
  • Very proficient at wire feed and stick welding on both mild and stainless steel
  • Proficient at layout and assemble
  • Must have a sense of urgency and good work ethic
  • Must be able to convert drawing, sketches, and ideas into a finished product
  • The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands for handling objects, computer equipment and peripherals, and bending, reaching, and crouching
  • Must have command of senses - sight, hearing, touch, and smell
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity
  • Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English

Desirable -

  • Experience making /repairing parts and equipment used in food manufacturing – packaging equipment (baggers, scales, palletizer, conveyors) – processing equipment (extruders, driers, grinders, scales, pneumatic conveying, pumps)
  • Experience rebuilding mechanical components - pumps, gear boxes, shafts, conveyors


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Support a schedule driven 24 hours per day environment with a customer service orientation to plant operations
  • Pre-employment background, drug, and skills testing required
  • Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices, including appropriate safety equipment apply
  • The position may require prolonged periods of time of sitting, standing, climbing stairs, climbing ladders and walking plant floors that could exceed one mile of travel per day
