Job Description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

A Fabrication Specialist will perform advanced repair, preventive maintenance, and installation of manufacturing and facility equipment. This role supports a development and prototyping environment and requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, along with strong fabrication and troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate milled and turned parts, including precision components requiring tolerances up to .0001 inch.
  • Fabricate precision sheet metal parts using CNC punch press and brake equipment.
  • Perform advanced repairs, preventive maintenance, and installation of manufacturing and shop equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems using multimeters, precision instruments, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and water jet systems.
  • Layout, size, and fabricate plates, brackets, fixtures, and custom components.
  • Service and maintain small motorized equipment, including engines and pumps; coordinate with external service providers when necessary.
  • Operate, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC-controlled systems, including modifying cutting parameters and monitoring performance for accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, prototype, or custom fabrication environment.
  • Track, manage, and close assigned work orders while assisting team members with maintenance priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety standards while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Prepare maintenance logs, reports, and related documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a fabrication shop, industrial maintenance, or repair environment.
  • Two (2) years of technical education or training, or an Associate's Degree in fabrication maintenance trades or specialized trade such as electrical, mechanical, or welding experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong fabrication, machining, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with CNC equipment, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and maintenance tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to safely use and train others on a variety of tools and power equipment.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, including scheduling and tracking preventive maintenance work.
  • Proficiency in maintaining records and reports in both computerized and written formats while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Competence in using email and automated calendaring systems.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Skill in working from blueprints, shop drawings, and sketches.
  • Ability to optimize efficiencies using computerized maintenance management and service request systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members, contractors, and vendors.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of seven (7) years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer II must possess the following qualifications:

  • Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and familiarity with related engineering fields
  • Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Planning/organizational skills

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $83,200 to $93,600 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
