The Fabric & Materials Coordinator will support M.M.LaFleur’s fabric sourcing, color development, and materials tracking functions. This is a detail-oriented, process-driven role that sits at the intersection of design, product development, and production. You will manage the day-to-day coordination of fabric samples, lab dips, tracking tools, and vendor communications, working closely with Design, Merchandising, and Product Development to keep seasonal materials programs moving on time.
This role is well-suited for someone early in their career who is eager to learn the full fabric development process and grow within a small, collaborative team. Color and quality decisions will be made in partnership with team leads.
Coordinate proto and sample yardage orders, including purchase orders, tracking, and receipt of shipments
Maintain seasonal fabric and design boards and internal tracking charts for fabric prices, sample status, and counter-sourcing options
Support the fabric sourcing process by preparing materials for seasonal presentations and working meetings with Design and Merchandising
Coordinate and schedule seasonal fabric show attendance and mill appointments for the sourcing team; attend as a participating member and manage follow-up logistics
Communicate lab dip requests to mill partners and track submission and approval timelines
Coordinate review of lab dips with Design and Merchandising leads; maintain the lab dip tracking chart and update approval status for cross-team visibility
Support color palette administration including Pantone matching requests, standards orders, and updates to the master color board, with direction from Design
Assist with fabric and color naming in collaboration with Merchandising and Brand
Distribute and collect FDS sheets from mill partners; track completion and flag missing or inaccurate information for review
Coordinate seasonal wash testing logistics with mills; track results and maintain care instruction records in the production tracking chart
Support bulk fabric timing tracking and communicate updates to cross-functional teams under direction of senior team members
Assist in compiling fabric descriptions and material information for PDP and product education
Maintain organized records across fabric programs including tracking tools, vendor correspondence, and sample libraries
Support cross-functional teams with materials information as needed for production, merchandising, and marketing
Assist with sustainability tracking, including preferred materials goals and seasonal progress updates
Participate in vendor and mill meetings as part of the team’s regular sourcing cadence; over time, develop familiarity with M.M.LaFleur’s vendor relationships and industry contacts—building a foundation for long-term growth within the materials and production field
1–2 years of experience in fabric coordination, product development, or a related function within apparel or textiles
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Clear and professional communicator; comfortable corresponding with vendors and cross-functional partners
Eagerness to learn fabric and color development processes in a hands-on environment
Proficiency in Excel and G Suite; experience with apparel tracking tools a plus
Interest in sustainable sourcing and materials a plus
