Job Description

EYFS Teacher

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Pay: £140–£200 per day, depending on experience

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm

Contract: Temporary initially, with the potential to become permanent

Are you a passionate EYFS Teacher who believes that building strong relationships is the foundation of successful learning?

Long-term Teachers are working with a specialist education setting in Plymouth to recruit a dedicated and adaptable Teacher to support young children with special educational needs (SEN). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where children feel understood, develop confidence and are supported to reach their full potential.

The role will initially be temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The Role

You will work with young children in their early stages of education, delivering engaging, interactive and individualised learning experiences that support their academic, social and emotional development.

Relationship-building will be at the heart of the role. You will take the time to understand each child's individual needs, interests and communication styles, helping them feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching children within EYFS adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and creating a consistent, nurturing learning environment.
  • Delivering interactive, practical and play-based activities that encourage curiosity, communication, independence and engagement.
  • Supporting children's social, emotional and developmental progress alongside their educational learning.
  • Supporting learning through outreach and activities that encourage children to engage with their surroundings and develop essential life skills.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to provide consistent, personalised support.
  • Contributing to shared marking responsibilities across the teaching team, helping to distribute the workload fairly.
  • Making use of dedicated PPA time to support planning, preparation and professional responsibilities.

About You

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and resilient Teacher who understands the importance of getting to know each child as an individual.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching within EYFS and/or Year 1.
  • Experience working with children with SEN, or a genuine commitment to developing your skills within a specialist setting.
  • A nurturing, patient and adaptable approach to teaching and behaviour support.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage children who may find traditional classroom learning challenging.
  • A creative approach to planning interactive, practical and engaging activities.
  • The confidence to work flexibly, respond to individual needs and celebrate progress at every stage.

Experience supporting children with social, emotional and communication needs would be particularly beneficial.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Competitive daily pay of £140–£200, depending on experience.
  • Working hours of 8:30am–4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Dedicated PPA time included.
  • Marking responsibilities shared across the teaching team.
  • A temporary position with the potential to become permanent.
  • A personalised, relationship-led approach to education.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children's confidence, development and learning.
  • Dedicated support from a specialist education recruitment consultant.
  • Access to free CPD opportunities and guidance throughout the recruitment process.

Safeguarding

Long-term Teachers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references, in line with safer recruitment requirements.
