Job Description

TITLE: Extrusion Technician B

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To assist Extruder Technicians with the set-up, changeover, and operation of extrusion lines. This position is responsible for accurately reading and understanding production orders and related documentation, assisting with quality monitoring, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and supporting efficient production operations. This position requires flexibility to work overtime as needed and to perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred
  • Experience in a "lean manufacturing environment" preferred
  • Knowledge of and being able to implement 5S initiatives and maintain this initiative
  • Experience in blown film extrusion as Extrusion Technician C - desired
  • Must successfully complete operator training and testing
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate self-motivation and initiative
  • Must ensure all safety policies are being practiced by all employees

  • Must maintain a good attendance record
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all machinery and the processes
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate machinery at maximum output while achieving top quality product
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate all machinery efficiently in order to maximize quality products and minimize downtime and waste
  • Must ensure that proper blends are being used, to assure quality
  • Must be able to work well with others and show initiative to train new employees to perform their duties and the responsibilities of an operator in the event of absence
  • Must complete all paperwork with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Must be visibly on the production floor to ensure safety and quality
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot material issues related to blender or resin issues
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot possible machinery issues to ensure safety/quality and productivity
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly schedule events in order to minimize downtime
  • Must ensure that SQF and GMP policies are being followed
  • Must be able to identify possible issues that are safety-related
  • Must utilize training matrix and successfully meet all criteria
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing
  • Knowledge of proper operation of all machinery
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of all working departments in the manufacturing facility

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

  • Ability to work in an environment that is extremely hot, humid, in the summer months, and cold in the winter months.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hands together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, lift, manipulate or assemble objects frequently.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to stand and change positions frequently over an eight-hour period.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs frequently.
  • Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles repeatedly or continuously to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
