The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion equipment to produce products that meet quality and performance standards. This position involves closely monitoring the extrusion process, making necessary adjustments to machine settings, verifying compliance with product specifications, and performing routine maintenance. The Extrusion Machine Operator plays a key role in ensuring efficient production, consistent product quality, and a safe working environment within the manufacturing facility.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Set up and prepare extrusion equipment for operation by loading raw materials and configuring machine settings based on product requirements.
• Operate extrusion machinery to manufacture medical device tubing in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
• Monitor the extrusion process in real time and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality, dimensional accuracy, and production efficiency.
• Perform regular quality inspections to ensure finished products meet all specifications and tolerance requirements.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve minor equipment issues or process deviations to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components, to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
• Work closely with the production team to coordinate material availability and maintain a consistent flow of raw materials to the extrusion lines.
• Maintain accurate and detailed production records, including output quantities, machine parameters, and maintenance activities, to support productivity tracking and continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with engineers and customers to develop and optimize extrusion processes.
• Support the quoting process and participate in customer calls as needed.
• Support with maintain resin inventory and resin procurement.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to promote a safe work environment and reduce workplace hazards.
• Assist with training new operators on extrusion machine operation, safety practices, and basic maintenance procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications
• At least 5 years of experience as an extrusion operator.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications in machine operation and maintenance are a plus.
• Demonstrated experience as an Extrusion Machine Operator or in a related manufacturing or production role in medical device industry
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, operate, and maintain complex machinery.
• Solid knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment, and standard operating procedures.
• Solid knowledge of inspection tools and methods
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards, protocols, and best practices related to machine operation.
• Familiarity with GDP and ISO 13485 standards
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and production specifications.
• Detail oriented with a strong focus on delivering high quality results in an efficient and timely manner.
• Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with operators, technicians, and supervisors.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on challenging projects.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and perform the hands on tasks required for the role.
