Job Description

Ability to operate on any of the Extruders and repel lines generally unassisted. Able to communicate quality issues, complete required documentation, e.i. profile and daily material reports. Report machine malfunctions and ensure good quality sheet. Performs work under Shift Supervisor with final approval by the Extrusion Manager/ Assistant Production Manager. Be committed to SQF, GMP and Food Safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to learn and operate all extruders within defined specifications without assistance.
  2. Recognize heating/cooling problems on all machines and report any issues immediately.
  3. Start up and shut down all extruders unassisted.
  4. Assist in "stringing up" all extruders unassisted.
  5. Complete job/color changes with minimal scrap.
  6. Perform adjustments to die.
  7. Monitor feed and mixing systems for proper operation.
  8. Correct formulas and rates for each product type.
  9. Match and distinguish colors from samples.
  10. Produce good tight rolls.
  11. Produce each roll to correct width and gauge.
  12. Able to use a fire extinguisher.
  13. Climb heights up to 60 feet to report silo readings and material held in each silo.
  14. Get assistance to resolve any issues to get machine back in operation.
  15. Well-rounded knowledge of the quality of all products.
  16. Housekeeping must keep all areas free of debris.
  17. Must adhere to and follow all SQF/GMP and Food Safety standards.
  18. Report on any food safety issues to Supervisor/Manager.
  19. Clean filters and vacuum pumps and dryers.
  20. Grind all scrap products.
  21. Monitor Repel Line and keep operational throughout shift.
  22. Understand silo readings, verify, and document all silo readings.
  23. Record correct measurements, weight, date, and shift on each roll produced and then move to extrusion roll staging area properly and safely.
  24. Complete required paperwork accurately, neatly and per Plant Sanitation specifications.
  25. Maintain raw material hoppers/containers to ensure continuous production run during the shift from Extrusion Mezzanine and refill as needed.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / REQUIRMENTS:

  1. Stationary standing: 100% of the shift.
  2. Walking: 60% of the shift.
  3. Touching/Handling Product: 100% of the shift.
  4. Sitting: 5% of the shift.
  5. Using Controls/Tools: 10% of the shift.
  6. Reaching-(Hand & Arm): 75% of the shift.
  7. Shifting/Twisting/Rotating core: 100% of the shift.
  8. Climb or Balances: 5% of the shift.
  9. Stoop, Kneel, Crouch or Crawl: 10% of the shift.
  10. Talk or hear: 100% of the shift.
  11. Smell: 5% of the shift.
  12. Ability to lift 25 pounds/Max.
  13. Ability to move foam rolls: 450 pounds.
  14. Employees may wear corrective lenses (with protective safety over glasses) PPE or use our Safety Prescription Program (Ask your HR Representative).
  15. Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    SAFETY:

    The Extrusion Operator will be responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, regulations, and policy procedures. Employee's responsibilities include but not limited to:

    1. Compliance with all facility rules and regulations.
    2. Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their supervisor.
    3. Maintain floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees, who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities.
    4. Communicate to Management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures.
    5. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)/properly and reporting any defective PPE.
    6. Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Employees will be working in a Manufacturing and/or Warehouse environment in all types of weather. Conditions may range from and include hot, cold, humid, loud, working near airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Certificates, Licenses, Registration

    1. Powered Industrial Truck Certificate (In house training and licensing).
    2. Lockout/Tagout Certifications. (In-house training and licensing).
