Job Description

The Extrusion Maintenance Tech maintains and services all electrical and mechanical aspects in the Extrusion Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to service all temperature controls on extruders.
  • Must be familiar with all extrusion equipment.
  • Must help with all maintenance type duties, mechanical and electrical.
  • Follow all plant and Extrusion safety rules.
  • Regularly maintain pack pressure, spin finish waste buckets, oil reservoirs, tack box filters, monomer, and main resin hopper screens.
  • Change packs, jets, spin finish totes, and cooling drum filters as needed.
  • Check compressors, air dryers, boilers and chillers.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Provide scheduled preventative maintenance and address any repairs.
  • Report all defects and damages to maintenance supervisor.
  • Maintain all records of repairs and maintenance conducted on the machines.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Lifting is required of machinery and parts weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Standing is required approximately 7 hours per shift.
  • Reaching is required of machinery and parts approximately 100 times per shift.
  • Stooping is required 4 times per shift.
  • Bending is required approximately 40 times per shift for machinery and parts.
  • Must use hand tools approximately 40 times per shift.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and shades.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Preferred but not required – Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Maintenance experience in similar field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Computer knowledge and data entry skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to operate a lift truck.
  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
  • Normal mobility, no abnormal fear of heights or confined spaces.
  • Valid driver's license.
