Oversees press operation to include safety, safety training, housekeeping, quality, career and performance counseling of the press crews and die/profile optimization.

What you will be doing

    • Promoting an environment were doing things safely is the highest priority.
    • Ensures all employees fulfill their HSE responsibilities and sets an example for the team to follow.
    • Actively participates in workplace and behavioral observations.
    • Provides health and safety training to the team, ensuring the understanding of how to safely perform each task.
    • Lead accident/incident reviews and develop corrective actions.
    • Constantly monitor environmental, health and safety performance to ensure continual improvement.
    • Identify hazards in the workplace to eliminate or reduce risks as far as possible.
    • Continually drive housekeeping initiative and improvements.
    • Responsible for his/her own health, security and safety and shall cooperate and contribute to the creation of a safe, secure and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the Company’s environmental obligations and goals.
    • Conducts monthly safety training.
    • Completes a minimum of one WOC per week per press. Audits and enforce safety policies and procedures.
    • Audits and enforce good housekeeping policies and procedures.
    • Cross-trains employees develop staff that can cover all positions when needed.
    • Hold daily meetings to review safety, production and housekeeping issues with employees.
    • Update and maintain daily production board information at assigned press.
    • Must have basic computer skills.
    • Must clearly understand and enforce parameters stated in the LPL/SCS card instructions.
    • Makes recommendations to die/profile optimization to maximize production and minimize scrap (extrusion speed, temperatures and billet length).
    • Must demonstrate a sense of professionalism and possess a positive attitude among all personnel.
    • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Complies with company safety and housekeeping specifications.
    • Communicates and works well with fellow employees of all levels in a Team effort.
    • Comply with lockout/tag out procedures.
    • Monitors operating supplies to ensure production needs are met and not interrupted.
    • Has read and understands work instructions for all operations in the extrusion department.
    • Complies with confined space/permit.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

What will make you successful?

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in extrusion setup and machine operation. Will consider related training at an accredited technical center, etc.
  • Must read and understand all work and safety instructions relevant to their specific position.
  • Must read and understand quality system operating procedures relevant to DMR, corrective and preventive action.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.(can accommodate).
  • Must be able to understand and deliver basic commands in English.
