Student Success and Leadership Development

The Extra Help Assistant is responsible for providing unskilled, semi-skilled labor or performing basic office tasks in a state agency or institution. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Required Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or the formal education equivalent;
• Currently enrolled as a UA Little Rock student;
• Must be a sophomore with 30 or more hours.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as a peer mentor and assist students with navigating college life;
• Attend all mandatory training and meetings throughout the term;
• Facilitate discussions with student mentees twice a month;
• Become familiar with various resources on campus;
• Inform supervisor of any student concerns;
• Create and participate in opportunities to support student mentees;
• Regularly attend Trojan Leadership Fellows Program events;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Strong time management and communication skills;
• Display a fitting, cooperative, and approachable attitude and demeanor;
• Communicate by effectively writing, listening, and speaking;
• Ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population;
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity;
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
• Demonstrate flexibility in your approach to mentoring.
