About Us

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

About the Role

We are seeking an External Wholesaler, Sub-Advised Insurance Distribution, to support the growth of Wellington's investment capabilities across insurance platforms and sub-advisory relationships. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing territory-based distribution strategies, deepening relationships with insurance carriers and affiliated distribution organizations, and increasing adoption of Wellington solutions within insurance-based investment products.

The role serves as a key commercial representative of the firm within the insurance ecosystem, partnering closely with insurance company home office teams, product organizations, distribution partners, and field sales professionals. Success will be measured through relationship expansion, platform penetration, field activity, and the ability to position Wellington's investment capabilities across variable annuity and related sub-advised structures.

The External Wholesaler will collaborate closely with Relationship Managers, Product, Investments, Marketing, and senior leadership to deliver a coordinated client experience and support long-term growth objectives across the insurance channel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The External Wholesaler will:

  • Drive sales and adoption of Wellington investment strategies within insurance and sub-advisory platforms.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with insurance company home office teams, distribution leadership, and carrier-affiliated wholesalers.
  • Partner with insurance distributors and field sales organizations to increase awareness and utilization of Wellington strategies.
  • Deliver investment and value-add presentations, market insights, practice management and portfolio reviews to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product, Investments, Marketing, and Relationship Management teams to support business growth.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, due diligence meetings, and client engagements.
  • Provide market intelligence regarding industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities within the insurance channel.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Insurance Distribution Expertise: Deep understanding of insurance product structures, carrier distribution models, variable annuity platforms, and intermediary sales channels.
  • Sales and Territory Leadership: Proven ability to develop and execute territory strategies that drive activity and deepen partnership with insurance-carrier sales organizations, positioning Wellington as a strategic partner of choice.
  • Influence Through Partnerships: Ability to drive results through a "wholesaler-to-wholesalers" model by partnering closely with insurance company distribution teams and carrier-affiliated sales organizations.
  • Investment and Market Expertise: Strong understanding of capital markets, portfolio construction, and investment strategies, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to a range of audiences. Capable of translating investment insights into compelling business opportunities for distribution partners and clients.
  • Value-Add and Practice Management: Ability to deliver compelling value-add and practice management presentations and seminars.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in asset management, insurance distribution, sub-advisory, or related financial services roles.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, home office teams, or intermediary distribution channels.
  • Strong understanding of insurance-based investment solutions and platform dynamics.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth and developing strategic relationships.
  • Series 7 and Series 63 licenses
  • CFA, CAIA, or other relevant designation preferred.
