Job Description
The External Transport Tech is responsible for pick up and delivery of pharmaceutical inventory, pharmacy sterile compounds, hazardous drug chemotherapy compounds and supplies for various Organizational department sites off of the main hospital campus. This position is authorized to take possession and deliver pharmaceuticals or dispensed prescription doses and supplies to EMH clinic locations as instructed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides transport services to EMH clients to ensure convenience of specific delivery’s and good customer service.
- Participates in the delivery and pickup of pharmaceutical inventory or durable medical goods to the different clients within as well as without the Organization boundaries.
- Completes required initial and annual training on safe handling of hazardous materials. Adheres to proper use of personal protective equipment during the receipt, transport and delivery of hazardous drug compounds.
- Maintains appropriate storage conditions for pharmaceuticals during transport according to dispensing pharmacy’s instructions. Reports any temperature excursion to the Pharmacist in Charge immediately.
- Demonstrates ability to contain a hazardous drug spill using a spill kit. Demonstrates ability to locate and follow Material data safety sheets for details on hazards, safe handling and emergency procedures for a chemical substance.
- Responsible for fluid and minor vehicular inspections and reporting mechanical failures to Engineering Services.
- Responsible for transport/driving activities for other Organizational departments and off-site locations.
- Maintains confidentiality of information of the clients served according to the HIPAA and EMH guidelines
- Maintains accurate and complete records of deliveries for all clients.

- Attends mandatory drivers training classes offered by EMH. Maintains valid KY drivers license with no assessed penalties and is eligible for EMH insurance to drive/operate company vehicle.
- When taking receipt of drug inventory, verifies the receipt of all products per invoice. Notifies Pharmacy supervisor if the order appears to be missing items or totes and informs the wholesaler or vendor of the discrepancy.
- Consolidates inventory totes from wholesalers and maintains cold chain storage until delivery to pharmacy/clinic as required.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works as scheduled through work week Required to transport under all weather conditions. Be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently.

Patients, visitors, clients, suppliers, medical staff, and other Departments and clients.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Good driving skills/record. Needs to be able to lift and move heavy loads. Ability to interact effectively with all contacts. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently.

Compensation:
$13.75 - $18.91 per hour based on years of experience
